Lauren - Great seeing, intriguing image. Your image does indeed remind me of cave paintings. I think Karl's point would give you a much stronger image. I think that the aqua coloration in the water takes my eyes away from the strong vertical lines. I would suggest cropping the water completely out, and cropping the gray rocks on top, just below the white rock on the right that looks somewhat like a pig. Just a little nit, the waterline has a small tilt from left to right.

Gerrard = Thank you for your kind remarks. I agree with you that a crop on the bottom would make the image a little stronger. However, to my eyes desaturating the image would take away from the metallic look that I was trying to achieve. If you prefer the image without that metallic look, that's okay with me. Some people like black cars and others white or red. That's one of the things that makes art interesting and fun. |

Judith, Thanks for your remark. I was not certain that my treatment in post worked. I have looked for the original, but have not been able to find it. I lost a bunch of images when I added a drive, and moved the files outside of LR. |

Gerard- I agree with most of the above comments. But I think that your use of negative space is spot on. I think that high key images generally need more breathing room than other pictorials. A close crop on your image would make it look too cramped for my taste. |
