21 Mar 22 Reply Try recalibrating. However, I'm not certain how calibration affects luminosity. Upgrading the OS could affect calibration. Mar 28th
21 Mar 22 Comment Mike, this comment will not deal with the creativity issue as that discussion is elsewhere. I like the overall mood you created. You have created a nice theme in your image. It is not very busy at all, though it looks a tad underexposed. My version tries to keep your intent and just has some obvious minor suggestions. I hope none of them changes yur intent. Mar 28th
21 Mar 22 Comment Hi Skip, welcome to the group. When I first looked at your image, I wanted to continue looking. It certainly holds a lot of interest for me. I like your use of complimentary colors, and that you have created an illusion of depth. Your composition is spot on.
I converted an old Nikon Coolpix to IR simply by removing the IR filter. Every time I see images such as yours, I am tempted to do a conversion, but I can't decide which one.

21 Mar 22 Comment Brian, I am inclined to sing the praises of your image, and the manner in which you have minimized it. Mar 28th
21 Mar 22 Reply Too many judges in in most CC competitions are incapable of appreciating, or understanding art, as opposed to picayune rules. Mar 28th
21 Mar 22 Comment Hazel, I like that your image conveys the feeling of Autumn. For me if your image was sharp, it would only show me what Autumn looks like, it would not show the feeling. Well done. Mar 28th
21 Mar 22 Reply Brian, I have a close friend who emigrated here from Venice. I suspect he does not think the outcome was "unfortunate." Mar 28th
21 Mar 22 Comment Joan, I like your whimsical your image. The raised effect of the trees, combined your placement of the balloons gives a nice abstract image. Mar 28th
21 Mar 22 Comment Steve, I am in agreement with Brian's comment. I think that with exceptions for images intended for: catalog; forensic; documentary; etc., decent images are by definition creative. However, I would think that for purposes of this group the PSA definition of "altered reality" would be applicable. My example using your image is not a masterpiece, but an exaggerated example of what I mean. Mar 28th

79 Mar 22 Reply I would love to, I have been born to try just about anything. However I have respiratory issues and must stay away from any air particles. The closest I can come to smoke is water spray from fountains. But that doesn't give me the multi tonal, interest that you have in your image. Apr 5th

79 Mar 22 Comment Lauren, Nice Capture. I like that you really brought out the colors of that beautiful bird. Karl's adjustment helped me to focus on the subject. I wish there was less negative space. Mar 23rd
79 Mar 22 Comment Karl, As an image it works very well. It is quite creative, and I see an interesting story. I suspect that the extent of the disorientation when looking away is dependant on the source of the smoke generation. Mar 23rd
79 Mar 22 Reply Freddie, The fun of abstracts is the flexibility. Since the image is water themed, just for the halibut I tried a totally different iteration. I applied: emboss; apply image to the green channel; mezzopoint, med lines; sharpen. Mar 23rd
79 Mar 22 Comment I am in complete agreement with all of the above comments. Beautiful and very well done. Mar 23rd
79 Mar 22 Reply Thanks Lynne, Sanibel is one of my favorite places. we came very close to buying a vacation home there. The price was well below market. Since I don't believe in bargains I dug into why the price was so low. Turned that the home ha been built over an alligator nest and the gators were constantly in the swimming pool.

79 Mar 22 Reply That's the beauty of these groups. We all have the chance to expand our thinking. Mar 18th
79 Mar 22 Comment Hi Judith. At first look, I saw a mystery to be solved. I certainly felt the hairs on my neck rising, and a chill on my spine. Then the conundrums. Am I viewing the shadows, or are the looking at me. Are they trying to escape from, or capture me. Are they trying to help, or kill each other. These days I am tilted towards thinking somber thoughts. Very well done. Your image does to me what this type of image should do, make me think and want to understand. From a technical POV I cannot add anything that has not been said. Enjoy your new camera. Mar 18th
79 Mar 22 Reply Karl, Thank you for your comment. I did not notice the black line. I usually remove the line by modifying the selection. I simply messed up. I appreciate that you called it to my attention. Mar 17th
