I was debating, but decided that the monochrome version shows more of the confusion I wanted to show. |

Angela; You did an excellent job in capturing and composing the frog. Your image is a strong argument in favor of using manual focus for close up work. The frog looks like he was in his natural environment. I would not be concerned about the DOF. If you had more DOF than too much of the background would have been in focus. It doesn't bother me in the least that a portion of the animal is OOF. My only nit is that I would like to see some of the dust spots in the background cland up. |

Charlie, You certainly accomplished part of you goal, You did a great job in showing all the curves and tonality That I would expect to find in a dried flower.
I am not certain that I agree with the use of the dark background. I understand what the mood image creates, but that is not to my taste, even though I have never knowingly eaten a dried rose. In my VF the light source is an edge of the moon. There are streaks of blue and orange in the rose, which compliment the blue from the sky, and a reflection of moonlight. I guess that's why Ford no longer makes cars only in black. |

Lynne, If I spent several hours in the ground shooting a mushroom, most of my time would be spent trying to get up.
I like the color contrast and the positioning of the mushroom.
The white spots an clarity try to draw my eyes away from that colorful shroom. I think that if the background was darer an more blurry the mushroom would stand out more

Elaine, You have shown us an unusual com. At 1" tall, None of us expect much milk. I have worked with black vinyl too, and found it to be a dust magnet. When I would like to have a reflection, I place a sheet of glass over a piece of black framing cardboard. If I was less of a reflection, I use glass over black velvet, of just use a black external rive. (the later has much less refletion, but a lot less dust.}
In my VF I tried to lean up the excess lighting, And while I was playing, The cow's reflection looked a bit static to me, so I masked off the top, and applied the shear filter. The look I got is totally different We now have curved leading lines to the subject, which adds a feeling of motion to the image.
BTW I have read about focus staking, but have not been able to get it to work for me.
