Love the color version Brian! Its got a different emotionalism for me. Very expressive and makes the three prominent arcs work better. I think they talk to each other more in color. Of course, this is my favorite palette!! Yummy.

Joan, you are so right! This is creative, not realism. The netting effect is very imaginative. |

As a rose fan I love this rose portrait. There is a good mix of the sharp focus of the flower, and the softer elements. I particularly like the border with a feather on it. This so often helps our borders look more integrated. Nice choice of colors in the background that compliment but don't compete with the rose itself. Beautiful job! |

Lots of movement and energy in this photo. And an interesting technique. Your curved lines in the center create a center of interest for the viewer to focus on. I would darken the top left corner a bit to keep the eyes from wandering off the top. I wonder what this looked like in color! |

I really like the filter you picked for this flower. The leaves really become characters almost with this treatment, and the lower petals almost look like bananas. This gives the picture a very whimsical touch for me. I agree the netting effect in the center is unusual, and maybe too distracting. You might be able to select the dark borders of the seeds and lighten them. I think a border is nice for this, but I suggest picking a green color and making the border a little thicker. |
