29 Feb 20 Reply Hi Bill, I like the "if"statement, I am just getting my feet wet with PS mostly for architectural / resort photography but most everything else I use LR. The learning curve is not as steep but also PS & layers makes it so much more powerful. In LR, lens profile work very well especially with wide lenses. The masking is great and the automask is a neat "hidden" feature but so useful; I need to find a video an send it to you. I use the radial and gradient filter in LR a lot, key is to know that the "alt" key will let you remove the areas you do not wish to "mask/brush" after you done applying the filter. Feb 21st
29 Feb 20 Comment Though shots! Well done for me, well focused the blur adds to the image and how fast they perform. Seeing the face on the second one is a nice plus! B&W might also come out very nicely. Perhaps these were cropped (square looking) but perhaps did not even need to be? Kudos! Feb 21st
29 Feb 20 Comment Thank you everyone for the comments. I have many similar photos taken from the same spot. The place is stunning at night and I thought doing Panoramic images was the only way to do it justice. That image is a stacking of 5 plus the 3 lateral for the panorama. With the panorama will come some distortion, I tried to correct it best I could using Lens Profile in LR but this was best I could come up with and is somewhat obvious on the tall tower to the right but the horizon came out nicely I thought. I still have lots of work on on so many shots from that night, standard shot & other panorama. Personally I liked the advertisement on the top lower left, the add is huge and I wanted to include it on the panoramic version. This was my second time in Hong Kong (my wife is from there) and I love the city vibes! Wandering at night is safe, easy to get around and we spend an entire night taking photos at different spots.

@bill - It was not as cold as NJ but it was a chilly night:-). We were in NY/NJ this past January and it was COLD! PS, I used to live in NJ:-).

85 degrees here today in Bora and very humid, tomorrow is shooting time with the sharks.

29 Feb 20 Comment I like Bob's B&W version (not flipped) but I would fix the sky issue prior to converting it to mono, easily done in LR without PS or other app. The flip would bother me if I knew the location and had been there. Flip does work well however, I sometime use it on portraits when the background is blurry. Weird but it always bothers me a bit to do it:-) Feb 15th
29 Feb 20 Comment The B&W works well for me but I did like the original as it was. Not sure what to make of the transformation, I tried a few of these myself for clients who had asked me "Aquarel" type transformations but not something I am in tune with personally. Perhaps it would actually do it justice printing on Canvas to add some material texture? I use Smart Photo Editor for these situation which has tons of effects and overlays without having to go crazy with PS. Feb 15th
29 Feb 20 Comment Beautiful shot! I agree with the two comments, crop & and saturation of the green which detracts a tad from the subject. Here is my attempt to modify it, I also masked and burned the center of the feather has they had more light. Feb 15th
29 Feb 20 Comment I think that is a great shot, perhaps the face could have been better angled and perhaps slightly out of focus but assuming you had an assigned seat; it is an well captured action shot in my opinion. Personally I like the blur on the extremities, it gives life to the image. I often try to capture dance movement of dresses in Tahitian Ceremony and it is not so easily done. Removing the two shoes at the top rights and may be adding a circle blur outside of the subject might even bring more focus to the subject. Well done! Feb 14th
29 Feb 20 Comment I like Bob's crop, removing the dark dry beach area gives more focus on the reflection. Feb 13th
29 Feb 20 Comment Hi thank you all for the feedback. I do have a few "standard" shot 3:2 which are more focused on the best area and do not have the distortion issue. I believe I used 3 images for this panorama, I tried to use the profile distortion to correct the right side but it does not work well for this image. We spent an several hours one night wandering around for shots starting at the Peak. So many opportunities for colorful night shots there! Feb 13th
29 Feb 20 Comment lovely cityscape, nicely processed. I just recently started shooting landscape so I am not an expert by any mean. Perhaps shooting at 16mm would have been better distortion wise. I usually keep it between 16 -20 and it seems to be a good range for me. As far as the sky, that can be handled in lightroom - You can use the lens profile correction which might help. The use the radial or gradient filter to mask the sky as you wish, I Dehazed the corner, changed the color and adjusted expo with the same mask. If your mask extend to some areas you do not wish, you can brush it out with the corresponding brush and holding the ALT key. Feb 9th
29 Feb 20 Comment Very nice capture, I like the light at the top and the brick texture. Styled it differently for the fun of it but I like the original as is. Feb 9th
