Cindy, I prefer the image with the body in it. So well executed, kudos! |

Martha, bold color choices and I like how you brought out the green in the water. A very successful abstract. One question: Why did you leave the ripples at the bottom instead of painting them out? |

Gerhard, you really went after the texture in this image! In separating your rhinos from the background for a different texture, the outlines of the animals along their backs IMHO should have been softened in the transition between the rhino and the tree area. Besides that, a very fine result! |

Pat, a wonderful conversion of the fireworks scene. I like what you did leaving the main burst at the center top with more definition. You've vibrantly enhanced the luminosity of the reflection, especially the shoreline area. This is definitely something to bring out every July for décor. Kudos! |

Sophie, what a wonderful travel experience you had! Nice detail on the lions, the eyes are sharp, and you can see the texture in the hair. What ISO were you using? My only suggestion would be to add a tad bit more room at the bottom for the lions to "walk into". |

Gordon, a nice macro image of the insect. I think your choice of blurring the background is well suited to the image. I'm baffled you couldn't enter it in a Nature competition since, if you shot it at or below 5.6, you'd have the same kind of effect. Oh well. That's why my competitions are art shows and fairs! Nice capture and processing! |

Sanford, first a wonderful job of cropping the image to 3 horses! The water splashes add contrast and I highly enjoy the high contrast you gave to the image which gives it wonderful DOF. Kudos! |

Damn, you've got a great eye! I hadn't noticed that there wasn't a reflection under her back foot! Ahh, the family won't notice that but I forever will haha! |

Quang, I agree with Charles, your image is well-composed and processed. The rocky slopes lead the eye into the glacier which you have added texture to. My only suggestion is to remove the dust spot almost at the top center. I also like the crop you shot the image in. Well done! |

Charles, you have a strong foreground (bottom third), mid-ground (middle third), and background (top third). The horizon line is level. You enhanced the clouds quite a bit, but I think you forgot to do the same with the reflection in the foreground since the waters are so calm. I would darken the bottom left corner triangle of noticeable rocks a tad since your bottom right is that way and would provide more contrast for the foreground. Though Iceland has a lot of black rock, I wondered why you chose B&W rather than color. The sky's blue color helps bring out the white of the snow, IMHO. Overall, I think this is a strong landscape image and one to keep for the ages. |

Brian, chasing the light is always a challenge! I think this image would best be served by making it a square crop and losing a lot of the bottom portion, positioning the sun in the middle, placing the lane guides along the left third, and having the tallest mountain peak at the intersection of the top and right thirds in both Rule of Thirds and Golden Ratio. There's a nice sense of DOF. |

Mark, this is a lovely countryside scene. I take it that those are windmills in the background, which means the area of this image has a propensity for wind. From my point of view, the subject is supposed to be the red-roofed barn, and the foreground objects are the sheep. The bottom third is the land and the top 2/3rds is the sky. By cropping off most of the sky and bringing in the right side with a 16x9 crop, you can have the red barn and sheep in the Golden Spiral, the Golden Ratio, and the Rule of Thirds. It also emphasizes the barn and makes Hadrian's Wall more pronounced. Topaz's painterly effect presets soften the image, which in the case of this image, I think is okay to do. I like the alterations of light, dark, light, and dark as you go into the photo from front to back which address a wonderful contrast and sense of depth. |
