Very well done with the background contrast set against the horizontal strokes in the foreground. A marvelously done image in so many ways. Kudos! |

Martha, what a great group we have to provide so much feedback that improves the presentation of the artwork you created! I agree with what's been said, and you are growing and improving every month. The light from top left creates a nice background effect and the white flower stamen draws the eye. I like the square format too. Kudos! |

Nicely balanced image and speaks of a foregone time when such windmills were utilized by farms to draw water from wells. As far as straightening the image, I'd use the central shaft of the windmill as your key vertical. I would have maybe stepped a bit to the left and included more of the tree at right. You might experiment with Generative Expand in PS to extend the right side to complete the tree. Nice canvas look to the image! |

You did a wonderful job painting the background (which matches the smock worn by the spinner) and the green fencing behind. The lines on the blanket behind the spinner keep the eye from leaving and contribute to the circular eye flow within the image as does the stick in the left corner. Good choice on the carpet replacement. Kudos! |

When I visited the Acropolis, I pondered what such giant statues would have looked like in the temples. With the "electrifying" of the statue and the addition of the sky, you make this literally a heavenly scene, powerfully imposing from a small human believer's viewpoint. The statue's clothing draws you up to the face and the sky. In Topaz, did you think about masking out the flesh of the upper torso and the arms? Why did you choose to or not too? I like what you created here! |

Nice action shot Sophie! I agree with Gordon about the lighting. I'm going to be the odd duck out and vote for the b&w version. I think the background feathers add more drama and contrast. Though the face has blemishes like Ian noted, you can take those out in PS/LR if you wish. B&W for me is more "artful" as in fine art. The color version is more Vegas and "showy". The blur of her right hand displays movement, whicch in this case I feel is appropriate for the image. |

Beautiful capture! I like how you posted it on the right vertical and horizontal 3rds.Good choice in the size of the image because any closer crop, like a 16x9, would squeeze it too much. Kudos! |

Gordon, the sky is wonderful. You have a lot of patience to do astro. I can go only so far as astroturf and football! Ian is quite right about the verticals, but crop off the bottom just below the crown of the tallest tree and that takes care of the issue! Afterall, it's about the sky! |

Jay, a vey well balanced image. The background blur is important and showcases the flower. I like the corners and the stamen are on the left vertical 1/3 line. Your edges give wonderful breathing room to the flower. Very well done, kudos! |

Got me looking for faces and images again Ian! I like the rich reds, oranges, and yellows. The black negative space to right in balanced by the bright yellow-orange at bottom left. My only suggestion would be to crop slightly in from left to delete that bottom left corner bright yellow. Arthur Brown would be proud! |

Gordon, as to twigs, I had to take so many out to begin with and decided that the remaining ones I could delete in PS/LR. I'm not entering it in any "fussy" competitions so to me it doesn't really matter. Besides, LR and PS are getting so much more precise with their tools. Thank you for your input, it is appreciated! |

thank you for your insights about the birds, I'll see if I can find some pigeons at another barn somewhere and catch them in flight and incorporate that. |

Nice composition of the image, and you did nicely on the sky processing. My only suggestion would be to straighten out the horizon line as it dips to the right. |

A beautiful scene! My first impression is that the sky, though the colors do fit with the cliff face, is illuminated from behind while the cliff face is illuminated from the front. IMHO you may want to have a 10x8 crop with the rock face at left in the middle. |

Lovely scene and well composed. The plane and lodge are int he middle third and the plane sits atop the intersection of the right and lower 3rds. I agree that you can crop off some of the foreground and woodland behind - perhaps a 16x9 to your liking. Great luck in having red on the plane! |

Beautiful scene! Did your lens have a circular filter on it? It did well to get the silky look with f/18 - I've sometimes gone into the low 20s for a similar result. IMHO the colors are oversaturated. I would use a radial gradient filter over the middle of the image, inverse it, and darken the forest edges where its green. I wouldn't boost the red on the left but let that shadow area contrast with the yellow leaves down the left side of the falls. Giving the scene more dark/light contrast will improve this nicely composed piece! |

I like how the red train car is at center, it draws the eye. Upper third is the castle, middle third the hill, and bottom third the train and water. As to the water, if you put in a blue sky, use a gradient filter to put a bluish tint to the water. The sky has the light coming from the right; so you should burn some shadows on areas that would have them. F/3.5 might have been a tad low - I would have chosen at least 11 and an ISO of 400 because of being on the boat. Beautiful scene! |
