Very well composed in the original shot and that benefit carried over to the painting. Great idea to delete portions of the stem so the flower becomes the showstopper. The square crop is genius! Kudos! |

Very well done, Kudos! The background sets a somber mood for the image so if it's a wedding bouquet I don't know what happened afterwards! My only suggestion is to expand the edges so as not the crush the petals at left, top, and right. This gives me some inspiration in processing additional images myself with flowers and how portions in-focus and out-of-focus can complement each other. |

Eeelectric! A nice experiment with the image via Topaz. I like how different colors of foliage came out in the processing and what an improvement over the original. The lighted edge of the leaves adds to the excitement. I am mixed about the center of the flower with the loss of definition but the way you have it isn't detractive either. So nice to see what you did based on the description. |

Well, this tells me that the painter has gone through 5 cannisters of paint. Did he/she use a spray attachment since there are no nozzles. The artist doesn't believe in six packs - he/she put a solitary cannister on a step below the others. Definitely not a Type A personality. Painter also doesn't clean the ladder perfectly, so definitely not Type A. Painting is of a woman with red hair so it's probably died (haha). Artist probably didn't like the lips, that's why the cans are where they are. Other than that, it's about smell - do you smell paint fumes or does the image stink? I'm a guy, forgive me please ... |

Quite a lively discussion and I'm afraid I don't have much to add to it. How you crop it or tone it sets the mood. No choice is wrong. Frankly, I prefer your final image. |

The tack sharpness of the image is what sets it apart: the wings, the eyes, the flower stamen. Your cropping is right on. Kudos! |

There's so much info on this. I had to squint to read what's written about police on the back bon and I wonder whose image is painted behind the back seat. Excellent choices in changing the color of the vehicle and other items you stated. I would also change the color of the blue triangles on the roof's black tiles. Definitely a "news" photo, cropped to the action and everything about the bike and rider are tack sharp. |

This high key image should be printed on a white T-shirt! The animals are sharp as are the tree trunks. I like your choice of marking the tree tops much lighter so to make the animals jump out. The white vignette border adds to the image. |

Very nice abstract and I do so love the lines of vintage cars! Very well done. My local car show - the largest in Mid-America, is coming up July 6-8 so I'll be on the outlook for some very nice curve. I don't mind the imperfections and understand why you let them on for the contest. But you're correct that they must go for the general public. |

Thanks Gordon. Would you print it on metal or canvas? |

Sanat, a beautiful capture. I imported your image and discovered why you darkened so much of the bottom. I would suggest a 16x9 cropped and lopping off most of the very dark bottom and some of the sky. The DOF created by the hills is wonderful and keeps the viewer's eye zigzagging across the image. My question: Why did you add the sky you did? You got the light correct hitting the clouds, which balance out the mountain peak at right. |

Love the colors and reflection. I think you could have greater impact if you lopped off most of the sky but give the tree limbs breathing room and the lower sky colors would pop more dramatically. Nice DOF too! |

Great decision to convert to b&w - a blah image to a minimalist image. In b&w the tonal contrasts pack a punch. Nice positioning of the seagull and the clouds give the eye a circular path through the image. |

Wonderfully processed. I like the sky and if the final is anything like what it was really like, it was amazing! My only suggestion would be to add some space on the left so as not to crowd the animal with the edge of the image. Any time an animal is looking in a direction left or right, it's best to have some space. What an exciting trip - did you get any lion shots? |
