56 Feb 23 Reply Thank you! Feb 24th
56 Feb 23 Comment I perceived the lack of "wing detail" Gerhard was noticing as fog enveloping that area of the bird. Your compositin is wonderful and the bird sits on the right and top thirds. It is looking left into the fog and I like the reflection you created below it. Wonderfully painted, kudos! Feb 24th
56 Feb 23 Comment Cindy's suggestion really improved your image! It's nice and delicate and the color contrast is perfect. You're well on your way!!! Feb 24th
56 Feb 23 Comment At first I wondered why you'd paint somethng in b&w. Then I took a deeper look at it and I think there's more tonal contrast and drama to the b&w. Very well done! Feb 24th
56 Feb 23 Comment Exceptionally well done. It reminds me of airbrush artists who try and make their image look like a photograph! The subject should love it, you took at least 10 years off his face haha!! Kudos on your portrait. Feb 24th
56 Feb 23 Comment I like the pastels and they contrast nicely with the background greens. The center of the flower is on the intersetcion of the upper and left thirds. I have been less than pleased with the Hopper presets in Topaz and have gone to Lasala instead for nature. There is a lot of distraction on the right - mybe you cold fill that in with green leaves or, as suggsted above, make the image a square crop. The bee's wings I had to look at twice as they fit in nicely with the flower petals. Your painting shows through nicely, I like it! Feb 24th
56 Feb 23 Reply Thank you for that insight! It is another flower and I didn't really know how to handle it: should it stay or should it go. You've provided some direction! Feb 8th

76 Feb 23 Comment First, a wonderful image! Second, since this is performing art, there's no doubt in my mind that the tonal drama of the b&w image far surpasses that of the color version. The only negative is the tightness of the woman's foot to the edge of the image at right, ditto the man's foot at top. Clone the edge and add some to both places. Kudos on a fanastic image! Feb 22nd
76 Feb 23 Comment I love the gnarly oak trees and the sun position is fantastic. The dappled spots add contrast. Overall a wonderful image! I wold use a gradient filter at the bottom left corner to darken it and clone out the two very top limbs areas at top right. Feb 22nd
76 Feb 23 Reply I meant that since it is so prominent in the image at the far end of the bridge that its sides should be aligned straint from top to bottom of the image. Feb 22nd
76 Feb 23 Comment This is one of those iconic shots I have seen on social media. The foreground rocks at let lead one into the image and point to the mountain. Ditto with the rocks at left so your eye doesn't run out of the image. The peaks are the triangles and the foreground boulders are a nice geometric contrast. The water is eautifully done. IMHO the sky is good but you should ask if you want a little ore drama up there with the clouds at top left. Wonderful capture! Feb 19th
76 Feb 23 Comment Jay, let me start with the crop: very good. The leading line of the stream has different textures and the reflected portion is wonderful. The rocks at left give a nice foreground and add a contrast of circular to the linear covered bridge an dits siding. This is where the power lines are okay because they mimick the horizontal lines of the roof and bridge underneath. (You need a reason to include power lines and this is a great one!) Those tree limb shadows on the bridge are great and I would suggest darkening them (burn the shadows) to make them pop. The blue sky also contrasts nicely with the yellow of the rock ar right and the reflection. Very good image, kudos! Feb 19th
76 Feb 23 Comment Action photography is great to look at! First, I'd crop from the left and get rid of the hinder of the other animal. That would add mystery to the image, what is the cat pouncing at? Your clarity on the head and eyes is spot on and you can see the whiskers. A splendid shot! Feb 19th

76 Feb 23 Comment The wide angle (24mm) was a good choice of lens and the 25 seconds smoothed out most of the water except the lower left corner. You might want to play with some blur there unless you desire that texture. Obviously the subject of the image is the bridge and the clarity of that is right on. Personally, I'd clone out the red lights underneath it at left. As far as the linear north-south, you have to decide if it's the bridge or the skyline behind but I'd definitely make the yellow bridge pillar one of your north-south poles. Very pleasing image. 88 Feb 23 Reply As in "dodge and burn", the dodging lights and burning darkens. This can be done in either LR or PS. Feb 24th
88 Feb 23 Comment It's an overcast day in the original, so the lighting doesn't fit with the blue sky replacement. I don't know where the sunlight is coming from but I think it's from over the back of the shooter? I'd burn the woodlands between the foreground and the castle behind to create more color contrast o fwhat would appeasr on a sunny day/eve. I really like the contrast between old and new and the river edge leading line. Very nice crop to the image. Feb 23rd
88 Feb 23 Reply Who doesn't have Zimmermann relatives in Germany haha!!! Feb 23rd
88 Feb 23 Comment Feb 23rd
88 Feb 23 Comment That's weird about the noise showing up when you reduced the size of the file. I like the presentation, very balanced. Since the oriiignal is on the Dark Side, I wonder why you chose to illuminate the sky and pond so much? I really like the light star at top right, nice touch. What didn't you use a gradient filter to darfk the lower portion of the image? I think this is a fine image, just needs some more tweaking to make it jaw-dropping! Feb 23rd
88 Feb 23 Comment Epic vista! When I grow up I want to be able to take something like this. I love the two cliff side to channel the viewer toward the mountains in the distance. IMHO I'd make the cliff face at left darker and match it to the next mountain down in the middle and do it so you can still see the texture of the rock face. I love the way you lightened up the yellow foliage in the middle of the valley to create a leading line - keep that luminance but darken the shadows around it for a better contrast. Your replacement sky has more drama and the colors match the cliff faces. I agree with Mark about the sharpness - the human eye favors a softer "feel". Really nice vista, I'm jealous! Feb 23rd
88 Feb 23 Comment Jacky, your nice poem goes with your original and final image. I read what you said above: "I wanted to convey a sense of calm and serenity with the dark tones, which is why I chose that particular processing for the image. My aim was to showcase the beauty of nature and how the trees, the river, and the wildlife all coexist harmoniously." Your Dark Side b&w IMHO doesn't bring calm and serenity but conflict, tension, and trepidation for me. Difference of atistic expression and I respect yours. I'd lighten this area and its reflection: "With roots firm and deep, they stand tall and grand,
The protectors of the river, a serene land."
As you know, the power and drama of b&w is in the tonal qualities of blacks, whites, and greys - the latter is missing here for that important imp[act, IMHO.
Photographiccally I like your top third of the trees and treeline and the bottoms 2/3rds of the reflection.

88 Feb 23 Reply Thank you for pointing out that halo, I did not notice it! Feb 23rd
88 Feb 23 Comment There's nothing like gnarly oak trees and fog to create a sense of the creeps! Your leading line of the road works well and the woman gives a sense of perspective and wonder: Where is she going, what torubke is she going to face? Whereas the pigeon tells the view dont' worry I'm not scared. The success of a b&w are the tonal qualities of black, grey, and white. You've got plenty of the former but not a lot of the last one. IMHO I would bring out the white in the sweatshirt around the woman's waist. Really like what you've dne with this photo! Feb 22nd
