Those eyes are killers! I agree with remarks above. I'm mixed about the rock ledge: Half of me likes what you did; the other half wants more texture from the rock so it doesn't look like wood. I don't think you could lose either way when it comes down to it. I'm amazed at what painting does to the photo - and what patience you had to paint every spot! |

I think you achieved what your goal was! Definitely a watercolor feel and look including the white border area. |

I agree, the background is better than the original. There is some circular flows among the elephants and the odd one to the left counterweighs the empty space at right. It is amazing that the hides on the 1st and 2nd from right are naturally that way. Strong sharpness on the trunks adds texture. The reflective water at bottom adds a nice anchor to the image. |

I never heard of Parsley so I had to google and see what I could find. Wow, that is truly painting in every sense of the word! This image brings me back 40-50 years and to the psychedelic era ... don't know why, it's the way it popped to me. The colors are well chosen for impact and I like the choice you made in not including the hair. The square format nails it for me. What is your advice to group members for starting along in this painting style, know of any YouTube vids? |

I have really become a fan of what you do with Topaz filters. You are successful in the composite image and the rain drops certainly add to the impact. The image has a faint stained glass look and I wonder what it might look like with some backlighting (anyone know how to do that in post processing?). The image might also make a great label for a winery! |

I like your choice of b&w for this image especially with the contrast between the fog above and the heavy boulders in the foreground. I would suggest going over the water with a brush and settings of clarity, sharpness and contract all reduced to smooth it out and make the image more minimalist. You were lucky to capture the magic "3" in the boat, which sits on the third line. You might want to crop the image from the right with the leading line of rocks that starts above 2020, just a thought. |

You keep doing it, monthly after month! The curves of the leaves are soft and the contrast in greens against black is well done. The magical "3" is used here and I like the focus on the front flower while the 2 in the back are in a softer blur. Even the small leaf point between the back 2 flowers serves a purpose to define the edges of the flowers. |

Everything that's important is sharp and I like the way the body of the insect in over a dark area between green leaves. I think the white of the flower needs to be brought out instead of being grey. I really appreciate the crop you used too. |

I like the pathway leading line to the tree and the DOF from the variation in the bushes and grasses to the water and the land behind that. Colors are very realistic and I like the way you lightened the trunk of the tree. And the clouds are an outstanding element too. |

I saw this on my Facebook feed and was very impressed! I really like that you made it a b&w and the processing is very good. I would definitely sharpen the head, the wings, and the front leg. You're correct about the antenna. I think you have been successful in what you set out to do. |

Charles, I agree with you about the 2 brightest lights at left. Once you pointed them out they did stand out to me as distracting. |

Stephen, I liked your bridge and it gives me some vision on how to make another image out of this one. Thank you! |

WHERE would you crop the image? I can see where at left but on the right, before or after the red in the sunset? Or make the cropping square of 4x5? |

The contrast in brown colors between the foreground and the dune is good and you couldn't have asked for a better sky. In the end you have a picture of a dune. I don't know if you could get any closer than this, but perhaps the skull with the lines in the sand dune would have been an interesting image. It seems that there are not any strong shadows so the sun must have been high when you were there. I'd cropped the image pretty much to the dune, increase the shadows and come down on the highlights to give you an idea to play with. |

An image Prince would have loved to hang in his house! Your processing has me focused on the sky - the contrast of the dark clouds against the sunset. To lighten the image would give it an entirely different story and focus for me - Louis' version makes me focus on the tree line; Gary's makes me focus on the mountains. I like the way you "juiced" the colors (surprised, aren't you!) and I must say that the mood you created is peaceful. There's nothing wrong with playing with "the dark side" of an image either, which I like here. |

I love the contrasts between light and shadow in this image and the balance you have created with the snow-capped mountain peak and the temple construction scene. I agree with Gary to tone down the light on the temple a tad. I'd also delete the post coming up over the second zero in 2020 and the white dot at the lower right of the image. I like what you did to bring a personality to the clouds to give a sense of rain. Very well done! |

I love barns so this is a hit with me! The wagon/tractor wheel paths are a great capture in this image and add to the DOF. That sky is awesome in color but I think I would soften the large clouds in the b&w version while leaving the wisps as they are. I'd also burn the tree line a bit to make it more contrasted to the barn. I like the barn on the vertical third line. Nice find! I bet this spot would give you a great image with fall foliage if you can get the clouds to cooperate too. |

Different perspective is always good to see! I didn't want the image to be about the bridge but about the sunset and the blue tones. My thought was to produce an image that someone would hang in their living room. Your image makes it about the bridge and if that is the case I would certainly open up the shadows under the bridge to get more of the lines visible and make it more about the architectural geometry. I might play around with this vertical idea but I still think I'll "juice" the blue up. |
