Love the bright green eye that's characteristic of double-crested cormorants. Looks like you captured him near the middle of the day, lighting would be better early or late. |

Great action shot, but as Leslie says it is definitely posterized and lacking in fine detail. |

I'm surprised you could get this on an iPhone, was this a model with more than one lens? Good detail in the ibis. |

I also agree with everyone. A larger aperture would throw the clouds out of focus and help make the colorful bird stand out but you were close to the maximum aperture so this might not have been possible. |

Tom, I agree also that Mike's version with lightening the darkest background areas improves the images and makes the egret's legs more visible. |

Thanks Tom. This is definitely the best, though it is a departure from strict nature. |

Thanks Leslie. I thought about removing the branches at top left when I was preparing this but I decided to stay with the strict nature interpretation and see what everyone says. |

Your HDR treatment brought out the details in an image that you shot in contrasty mid-day light. I would guess that you had your camera set to Auto ISO when you shot the brackets. I would not change anything here. |

Very sharp and good color throughout, Bill. Perspective correction well handled. It would have been perfect if you had placed your tripod just a few inches towards the right to get everything exactly lined up. Maybe increase the strength of the gradient adjustment a bit. |

These guys stand stock still while watching for a fish to come along, so it is not difficult to run off an auto-bracketed set of images. Good detail and color, very crisp. You might try cleaning up some of the debris on the water surface in front of him, but then this would be a no-no for entering the image in most nature salons. |

A very interesting subject, Lisa. I cannot figure it out, it looks to me like the stairway goes up into a circle above the upstairs level. Did you apply some kind of distortion filter to this image?

Your HDR treatment brings out all the details from the bright outside view to the darkest areas. I would crop out or clone the curtain or whatever it is on the far left edge of the image, and perhaps also the rectangular object at top right. |
