Well done, Michael. I would like to see a bit more detail in the bird's belly, but realize that might not be possible because the light just wouldn't get there in most cases. |

Great capture of a bird not seen in our area. Well composed, it was important that you gave the bird space to look into. |

Well done, Ron, this is certainly a unique angle to capture this bird from. I much prefer the revised version, the original's sky appeared to be posterized as well as haloed. I still seem to see a bit of loss of detain around the top of the bird's head, maybe this could be cleaned up with the refine edge tools in Photoshop. |

I agree with everyone else, Gabriele, including the suggested crop. Good nondistracting background, I cannot get this with the background behind our feeders. |

Well done Tom! I cannot add anything more , I agree the eyes of both the bird and fish could be lightened. |

Yes, in North America egrets were disappearing early in the 20th century for the same reason, but when that stopped, they made a complete comeback. I hope the same thing happens in the UK. |

Thanks Brad, After adding a but of dehaze and clarity in Lightroom, I ran through a bunch of presets in Nik Color Efex 6 and chose the appropriately named Clarity Bump preset. The water had a cyan/green color cast, so I used a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to shift the color towards blue and desaturate it a bit. Finally, I added a slight vignette. |

Good treatment of this image captured near the middle of the day, I agree that removing the old cars in the background helped this image. I would also consider removing the power lines at top left. If you have Luminar Neo, this does the job very easily but you can still do it in Photoshop very well. |

Well done, Bill! Your HDR treatment really brings out the colors and tones in this image. You took great care to position yourself to catch the reflection of the lighthouse in the pool of water, the red color down there does not bother me., Try to reduce the amount of vignette so that the top of the lighthouse and the trees next to it aren't darkened as much. |

Jane, I'm inclined to agree with Bill and Rick about the sky. I like the colors and textures of the rock wall, and you got a good reflection of the scene. I only wish that there were a bit more reflection in the river, but you only get what the scene provides you. |

I also really enjoy the colors of the trees in the foreground. But it somehow looks like the trees have been pasted onto an image of the very cold bluish background and sky, there's a distinct separation line between the two parts of the image, whi8ch I'm not sure how it would happen in nature. Maybe a warmer color in parts of the mid-ground would help to blend the parts of the image together. |

As with Bill, I'm not that keen on the streaky clouds in the sky here. What was the original sky like? |

Great color harmony with the blues of the pane and the sky working together. The yellow wing tip really grabs my attention and leads to the yellowish area on the horizon above it. But I'm wondering why the right tail is so much taller than the left one. |

Thanks everyone. I'll have to try these suggestions, try to give the foreground a bit more pop and perhaps make the sky and hills (not mountains!) recede. |
