21 Dec 23 Comment Well done Michael, I cannot add anything to this discussion. Arthur Morris swears by La Jolla for breeding plumage pelicans in January.

21 Dec 23 Comment Well done, Leslie, very different from the blue jays that we get in our area (and gave its name to our baseball team). Very sharp and great color. If I do anything, it would be to use a bit of generative expand on the left side to give the bird a bit more space to fly into.

21 Dec 23 Comment Well done Mike, great colors and great capture. It's not easy to catch them on the wing. I agree about the space for it to descend, but perhaps crop a little from the top -- just a tiny bit to put the bird in more of a 1/3 position.

21 Dec 23 Comment Ron, I also feel that the other birds in the background are distracting, and I prefer Tom's version. I realize that it's difficult to get a good image if this bird's facial details. Dec 19th
21 Dec 23 Comment An interesting bird that I have never heard of, either. I agree also to lighten the head. Perhaps also add a bit of canvas to the bottom so that the wing isn't so close to the edge. Easily done in Photoshop now. Dec 19th
21 Dec 23 Comment Merry Christmas everyone. Even though I was unable to post this month, I still have enough time to make some comments. Tom, I like the re-processed version of this image better, but I agree with Mike that the image could be lightened a bit so that we can see detail in the shadowed areas of the duck. Dec 19th

44 Dec 23 Comment Max, your HDR treatment really brought out all the detail in this rugged scene. It also took me a minute or so to find your wife, she adds a sense of scale. On an HDR landscape image, I often find myself adding in the sky of the underexposed bracket to bring up its color better than the blend. Dec 19th
44 Dec 23 Comment Bill, your processing brought out all the color and detail in this image, which definitely says Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I only wish that I could see more to the top of the background display.

44 Dec 23 Comment Also a good composition, Jane. It looks like it's very slightly slanted down towards the left. I would not change the color of the water anywhere, it seems OK as it reflects light from the clear sky. As with last month, a slight vignette might help. Dec 19th
44 Dec 23 Comment Rick, I prefer the "original" version, it comes out cleaner and less cluttered in my opinion. The child provides a sense of scale. Dec 19th
44 Dec 23 Comment Merry Christmas everyone. Even though I was unable to post this month, I still have enough time to make some comments. Great wide angle perspective, Brad! And sharp from front to back. Did you use a small aperture or did you focus stack?
