21 Aug 23 Reply Thanks Tom. Aug 8th
21 Aug 23 Comment Michael, I love this image! I'm pretty sure this is a Coopers hawk, every few months one of these visits us with an idea of catching a small bird that comes to our feeders. Tom's ideas are both worthwhile, use of the options in the Photoshop beta to add canvas would help this image. Aug 8th
21 Aug 23 Comment Really well done, Leslie. I wouldn't change anything with this image. Aug 8th
21 Aug 23 Comment Well done, Mike. Amazing detail and color on both the adult and juvenile grebes. Perhaps you could try the new Photoshop beta and extend the canvas on the left to give them more space to move into. l Aug 8th
21 Aug 23 Comment Ron, I would crop this image to a vertical and improve the eye as Tom suggested. Perhaps running this image through a program like Topaz DeNoise AI would help. Aug 8th
21 Aug 23 Comment Great shot except for the overexposed area under the wing, as already mentioned. I like Tom's effort at adding detail to that area, it repairs an otherwise distracting area. Was there something lit by sunset light behind the bird that reflected the gold light onto the water? Aug 8th
21 Aug 23 Comment Great nature story, Tom. The water droplets are part of the nature story and I wouldn't do anything with them. As mentioned several times, I might lighten this image a bit. Aug 8th
21 Aug 23 Reply Thanks everyone. I got this shot at a raptor conservation center and the handlers were enticing the eagle to fly towards the group of club members all shooting at the same time. I worked the eagle's head but I guess not quite well enough. Yes, the darkened areas in the background helps the image out considerably. Aug 8th

44 Aug 23 Reply Thanks Max. I feel your version is heavy on both contrast and color saturation. Perhaps somewhere in between, I can see that the left hand side of the barn needs a little more contrast as you've done. Aug 29th
44 Aug 23 Comment Max, I also want to see better into the valley area, also I find parts of the big rock at right center to be a little too bright and maybe a bit oversaturated. I wish I could see the top of the mesa in the background but then you likely didn't get this in your original brackets. Aug 11th
44 Aug 23 Reply Thanks Brad. I know I have a tendency to go for punchy greens and have occasionally had a judge's comment to tone them down. I quickly tried processing this image using Aurora HDR but none of the presets I tried was able to see into the darkened interior like Nik did here (though if I took mo0re time and adjusted the sliders I might have been able to do so). And the green was just as bright. I toned that green down a bit in Lightroom after seeing your comment. Aug 11th
44 Aug 23 Comment A lovely southwestern landscape image. I agree with Brad, I would like to see more contrast, this appears to be a bit flat. Aug 11th
44 Aug 23 Comment A restful and inviting scene. Jane, I must agree with Brad's treatment to remove the out of focus bush and crop the foreground in, though maybe a bit less of a crop to show a little more of the foreground stream. Good color. Aug 11th
44 Aug 23 Comment Your processing has brought out all the detail in the rock formations, I don't think this if over sharpened. I sympathize with your difficulties in color spaces; many years ago I abandoned Pro Photo RGB because it appeared to be doing strange things with my processing back when I first stated working with RAW captures. I'm much more satisfied with using Adobe RGB then converting to sRGB when exporting JPG images. Aug 11th
44 Aug 23 Comment Lisa, your HDR treatment really brought out all the detail in this image, especially in the otherwise very bright views out of the windows. The spiral staircase leads the eyes up past the windows to the platform at the top. Aug 11th
44 Aug 23 Comment I've used luminosity masks from time to time and really appreciate their ability to transform images. Your work with HDR blending and luminosity masks has certainly brought out the detail and color in this image. Well done. Aug 11th
