Interesting group of birds, I've never heard of this bird before. I agree that the image is stronger after removing that branch. |

Great action shot of the herons, these gray herons appear to be very similar to our great blue herons. Tells a nature story. There is another bird (egret?) behind the head of the rightmost heron, it doesn't add anything to the nature story and could be cloned out. |

Well done, Ron, you captured these grackles in a great pose. In reference to Mike's comment, these birds are both male (females are brown in color and slightly smaller). I tried using the new Photoshop beta version to add space at the bottom and in front (to give the birds space to move into). |

Well done, Gabrielle, considering the circumstances you were faced with. And modern cameras enable you to get shots like this without thinking of using a tripod. I might try to blur the background slightly, this would help to make the birds stand out. |

Welcome tyo what promises to be a truly exciting group. Tom, you have captured a terrific action shot of the skimmer, not easy to get. I tend to agree with Ron to try and lighten the eye a bit or, as you say, to add a catchlight. Looking at Mike's version, it looks more like noise than feather detail considering how black the feathers are. |

Good color. I've never been there but your image brings out a desire to go and explore the area. Great detail shot, but I'm sure there are lots of other shots there waiting to be captured. |

This image invites you to come in, sit down, and enjoy the view of the city skyline. The slow shutter speed smooths out the water effectively. I cannot suggest any improvements either. |

Your HDR treatment really brings out the detail in this image. The oil can adds interest. |

Effective use of the new Remove tool. There is a very slight slant upwards to the right. Also a tiny bit of haloing around some of the stone monoliths. Otherwise very well done. |

Well done, Bill, this was not an easy shot to obtain. The HDR treatment brought out the detail and color in the image. I might crop about 10% of the left hand side to bring the focus of the subject more squarely up towards the skylight. |

Jane, this is a record shot of two common Texas flora. It might have been better if you had come right up to the barbed wire fence, perhaps low down with a wide angle lens to get some bluebonnets really close and the rest fading back into the distance. Though I must admit then you wouldn't see the cactus. As is, you might try blending in the sky from the darkest bracket to add a bit of detail. |
