48 Jan 19 Comment Hello Linda, Not sure I can add much in the form of constructive critique but I do agree with what has been said. I like the image and feel it is worth working with
If you shot in RAW there may be some info that will allow you to tone it down and bring out some more detail

48 Jan 19 Comment Margaret, I like the image ether way. The crop changes it a bit but the essential "feel " of the image remains. The movement, the passing of time. I find it contemplative.
Well seen Margaret

48 Jan 19 Comment Bev, Can't help you with the yellow cast but I sure do like the B&W image. I don't see it as a "save" It is a strong image that clearly works in B&W.

I agree with Dianne about darkening the spots of light on the cape. With out losing detail/texture.

I'd also consider pulling out a wee bit more detail in the benches/table behind her. As long as it doesn't distract for your subject.

Very nice

48 Jan 19 Comment Dianne, First welcome to the group.

A very nice image. Perfect timing with the women. Not sure the image would have worked if she appeared anyplace else. I like how you limited to color palette. Even the women "helped out" by having on a blue top.

Well seen and well captured

80 Jan 19 Reply Hey Colin, I asked about the white balance because I to shoot a great deal in art galleries and museums . Love capturing folks as the view or interact with the art. I run into the same problem. To stay within my ISO comfort I need to shoot at slow shutter speeds. At the higher ISOs it seems I have less room for RAW adjustments before noise sets in.

I like how you handled the WB in this image

80 Jan 19 Comment Great image Bev, Showed it to my wife who worked in Moscow for 1 1/2 years and visited St Petersburg, then Leningrad many many times. It brought a smile to her face and a few stories she shared.
Thanks for that

80 Jan 19 Comment Hi Karen, Completely agree with Colin. Great capture of the expression on the store clerks face. (wonder if she is looking at you ?)
The title is well chosen and I like the decision to desaturate color except for red.
Nicely done.

80 Jan 19 Comment Hello Bill, Chasing the light I see! well seen and well captured.
I don't know what it looks like in color but I do thing the decision to convert to B&W works well

80 Jan 19 Comment Colin, I truly like this image! Every aspect of it. From the composition, to where you stood, to the symmetry of the scene, to the off center of the couple admiring the work. Their jackets echo the male subject of the painting. Even that little whiteish seam in the floor connecting the couple with the work of art serves as a leading line.

Nicely done!
My only question: How did you handle white balance? Was it on auto? did you adjust in processing?

80 Jan 19 Reply Stephen, Thank you for the visit.
Not sure what happened but here it is. I was taking pictures of bridge reflections (see group 48) and decided to cross the bridge. As I crossed I was hoping some one would come along so I could "add" a person to the scene.
I got lucky. This young women with her striped sweater came along. If I was truly ready I would have shot a bit faster
Taken with my Olympus and a 14-150mm zoom at 1/80 f18 ISO 500
Processing simply added on the shadow and the saturation slider. The biggest processing decision was keeping it in color. Fairly unusual for me

I do like the B&W image but as I implied above B&W tends to be my default thinking and I want to take advantage of the bright yellow.
