Neil, I really like the image. I like how he "pops" against the out of focus background. I also like the composition and the empty space of the back seat. I think it adds to the over all feeling of the image.
The up turned lines of the make-up of the mouth serves as a nice contrast to the boys mouth and the distant look in his eyes. And of course B&W works for me.

Amal, I spent a great deal of time in the southwest while I was in the service and your image takes me back in time. The southwest gives those of us in the eastern part of the USA a very different view on space. Your image captures the great expanse and at the same time reminds me of just how small we are in the over all scheme of things. I really like the texture and I think your choice to reduce some of the shadows adds to the "heat"of the image
It works for me.

Sean, First a question: Did you take it with your iPhone as well?Or did you take it in a camera and send it to your iPhone for processing?
That asked, the effect is strong. i like it a great deal. I can not help but think medieval tapestry.
Both images are strong but I sure like the processed one.

Margaret, Its pretty hard to find something that hasn't been said yet. I too like the image there is something about ruins that make them compelling subjects. The sun the clouds and the general feel of the image sure pulls me in. As others have said, The image makes me want to me there.
Nicely captured

Neils, Thank you Helpful stuff. I will try feather the vignette. Concerning the center of the image The only adjustments I made to the center were global and effected the entire image. I spent most of my time/effort trying to get the darker areas "just right"
I'd love to take credit for the way the boys hand on the women's shoulder came out but that was pure luck. Pretty much as the camera saw it.

Margaret, I think the light object in the upper left is the women's purse I will to darken it a bit.
Thanks

Thanks Hildi, This is helpful stuff and I'll try it all in Lightroom. As you can tell I tend to favor dark images and images where there is a great deal going on. So its always good to be reminded that I can simplify an image and enhance my subject

Thanks for the feedback Bev, As I said I had trouble with creating the effect. Mostly to know whether I was going too darker, not dark enough etc. Even now as I look at it I'm not sure.

Thank you Margaret, The lens was a wide angel and I did shot from the hip which I think explains the perspective.
I hope it does anyway.

Beverly, as I B&W image guy I agree I'd love to see it in B&W. But as a color image I very much like it.The wall on the left serves as a leading line and brings our attention up to the entrance.
The two people walking around give an additional detail that creates more interest.
The Topaz effect is neat makes the whole thing sort of shimmer as if the heat is playing with our vision. Thanks for sharing

Hildi, It sure feels like your asking us to comment on the same image month after month. I joined PSA to learn from others, I'm beginning to feel cheated.
nothing else to say
