Apologies Nick, I 'mislaid' you Just lookig to see all had commented --deadline coming up--when I saw my omission.
It is charming Nick and another of your clever ideas I do agree with Pete that the water on the middle LH side needs to be ruffled up a bit to make it more natural--nevertheless it is a sweet image.

Once again David a masterpiece from a grab-type shot although in your case it is not a grab shot! As Rich suggests if you ever do a YOUTUBE it would be so interesting to follow step by step |

NIce job Rich, I love to photograph poppies, how I envy you that Red Poppy Festival. They grow in fields in UK but I have never got quite the image i want. This image reminds me somewhat of Polar coordinates:
Polar to Rectanguler
Rotate 180 degrees
Filter - Distort - Polar Coordinates
Rectangular to Polar
Use Topaz Simplify 4-Buzz Sim and the vignette slider. Can use other filters to try until finding something you like. Experiment is what this technique is all about.

Oh! the things one does for our hobby! I am not am experienced Sports photographer Phil so perhaps my remarks are out of line but for what it is worth....
I find the 'mix' of the two players too close The red player is headless and the meld of the two is too confusing |

There is so much here to play with, I love still life sets ups. The colours are so beautiful but I do regret missing the heel of the FG shoe and perhaps the BG shoe could be at an angle toward the front. The flowers are so well placed. To mind it is good image but it just kind of misses the mark, but certainly your excellent props are here to give it another go and the Poster edge filter is a bonus |

Pat you are a fine addition to thi talented group.I loved the image, and Oh! the rapeseed! Only critique I would say that the chimney smoke doesn't add anything and the house is so interesting that perhaps it could be a little larger, but perhaps that would take away from the lady and upset the balance... |

You did a good job on this Jerry, it is so difficult to get a good image of Chihuly glass--at least for me. I have tried to photograph it but have never really got anything that I thought was worthwhile. |

PhIl is also in my group 5 and a comment from one of my members on his May image (which is one of sports ), may interest those of you in no. 59:
I once interviewed Bob Martin, who is a brilliant sports photographer and the Chief photographer for the London Olympics, One thing he emphasised was the importance of a good background in sports photography saying that no matter how good the action is, a poor background leads to an unsatisfactory image. His way of working is to look at each venue carefully to find a good backgrounds then chose an appropriate one and wait for the action to happen. Have a look at his web site at
http://www.bobmartin.com/ - I hope you find it inspiring |
