I have never heard of this but what a beautiful display. Although you did a good job of isolating some of the umbrellas I think the original, had you moved in front of the sign, with the red umbrellas off to the R side, the closed black ones on the L, the swirling floor tiles and the empty tables could be a stunning image |

Yes Erik some of the best images are right around the corner--and this is super. The composition is spot on, his tendrils (as in a plant, don't know what you call them in an insect)are perfectly placed, good BG. Beautiful work! |

What a wonderful opportunity I can just imagine how thrilled you were. A great image wouldn't change a thing , but I don't think I would have engaged this woman to mind my child--but a good model! |

Nick this is a wonderful capture. I couldn't think of one thing to change or improve. I have tried so many times to get a bird just in flight--the fish would be a bonus--no luck yet. Well done! |

I have seen this type of image many times when either judging or chairing an exhibition and never have I seen it attain a score for acceptance. Judges do not seem to like that which strays from the norm i.e. rule of thirds, horizon lines etc. I can't recall which group had a recent discussion that what it amounts it really is how YOU feel about it--it is your image and having listened/read all the critiques it is your final decision as to how YOU wish to present it. I have a large picture in my house that I took of the cliffs in Bude, England, it is not anything worthy of note except for what it means to my Dale who was stationed here in WWll and watched the commandos train for the assault on the cliffs of France on D-Day--and it brings a lump to my throat when I look at it and think about it. |

Thanks Mohan for your very interesting detailed info. I will share it with my neighbour who also has a plant. Thanks for the link, I see that yours is little different in that it has a red lip, none of mine have this. |

The boys expressions are priceless. Although the spectators in the BG do not detract I would clone out the man between the rails. Are these girls or boys? |

This is such an unusual flower, I don't recall ever seeing it. I do see, after some studying, that the stalk is bit shorter than the original; the emphasis on the raindrops give the image the WOW look. Without the few falling sepals this image would be less spectacular. The whitish areas in the BG do not offend me . Lovely work Oliver. |

A beautiful image and well worth your missing sleep, The obvious detriment to the pic is the sign which really grabs the eye. I notice the wires on the LH side leading to a pole, this too could be cloned out. Perhaps this is unnecessary but I would like to have had the image straight rather than on a slope, but this is a small point--the sky is stunning. |

Since this is a Macro group I would have cropped off the right side of this and just concentrated on the flower with the butterfly. I haven't tidied up much of the BG but it could do with a little more. |

Something about this Tom doesn't strike me as quite right. I think the lighting has brought out the imperfection in the petals; the edges to my eye are distracting and judges are always looking for flowers to be just perfect. I can't offer any suggestions at the moment but will be interested to see what the others say. |

You captured this at a perfect spot just rounding the top of the leaf--and too seeing the results of his appetite. Well done! |

Dan this is marvellous, particularly in monochrome. I would however tend to darken it somewhat, perhaps a touch of levels would be sufficient. I don't mind that the calf is missing, better not at all than a half out of the frame. |

The addition of the red-clad child adds the right note for interest. I do agree with Tom that the brighter red is a bit over the top. Nick Muskovac of no. 5 never fails to add a shadow which in so many instances makes the image, you almost don't need it here due to the trees, but it is worth thinking about when one adds another item to an image. |

This an interesting image David, but I see it as not quite right also; it has endless possibilities. One, I see is to make the frame smaller, the same size or very slightly larger than the tree trunk, cut away the trunk and then place the person's image, plus the frame over the tree, as though she is emerging from the tree, or do away with the frame altogether. Crazy idea? |
