A great shot Dennis, you guessed correctly--I referred it to my German friend who answered:
That's funny.
AFG stands for non-alcoholic beverages. It's probably not used much!!

Phil this is outstanding. A flash would have been over the top. Oliver has indeed made the girl stand out more by cropping the LH side and the white vertical line has been diminished--pity it can't be more. I understand your taking this, had you asked this lovely child to move she probably would not have done so and too become all shy and you would not have got the pic. Sometimes you have to take the opportunity that presents itself and damn the consequences.
It's charming Phil! |

After looking more closely at the sky I do agree with Nick that Oliver's sky is better, but it's small point on this lovely image.. |

You certainly got good use out of that giraffe Nick, (he must have modelled for you as often as dear old Murphy) and they are always a surprise. Most timely now with the World Cup being held--when are you going to put him on the court at Wimbledon? One thing I notice about your images you always include the shadows so well and this really makes it outstanding. Good work Nick, nothing I could add to improve/change the image. |

Thank for your input Stephen. I hadn't noticed the difference between the top and the bottom boxes so this is not truly a mirror image. I copied the top box and then used transform to 'join' the the top and bottom. I see now that the long sides of the boxes are joined to the shorter sides Oh dear that was not at all what I intended--but does it matter--other than to change the title? I purposely reduced the opacity of the lower flower panels so that they not compete with the top, since you and Mark both remarked on this perhaps I should not use opacity if I submit this for CC comp.

At first glance John, until I read your explanation, I thought this was a part of a zebra. For some reason I think this should be a horizontal, but taken as an abstract perhaps it doesn't matter. To my view, the white spot about 1/4 of the way down on the L needs to match the greys as does the area about 1/4 way up on the R side, and there is a green spot that seems not to belong. I can understand your seeing this and well done for your eye, but to me it doesn't quite make it. |

I really love this image, to my eye everything is perfect. Others may think is is a bit oversaturated, but not I. The white flowers on the R and Thomas David's tombstone on the L, with the small red bouquet, gives marvellous balance and needless to say the path leads one's eye right to the church. I couldn't add a thing to better it.Well done Rich !

This is certainly 'of the moment' I see more and more tattooed people each day. Although this pretty girl appears to be enjoying her body art I wonder if, when she gets older, and her wrinkles appear what her neck will look like! You caught her at the right moment with that delightful grin on her face. I rather wish I could have seen a bit more of the man's face, but it doesn't matter since she is the subject. I would remove that spot of white from his ear and if you could blur the BG a little more, partic the writing, perhaps you could clone in the green? Nevertheless, a job well done--it's a winner. |

Hildi,I certainly do hope that this is last one in the series. It seems an imposition to expect your fellow members to comment on what is relatively the same image for 6 months in a row, although one, perhaps two, similar images were acceptable, six is not, have you not something else you could submit for July? I am sure Bev will be happy to make the change and it would give the others something on which to comment. Your bio indicates you are a very good photographer and could be a valued member of no.48; the study groups are about learning and helping each other to advance their photography and this you are WELL QUALIFIED to do. |

Thanks for the invite Dave but you have a full house with 7 and I do have a couple awaiting space. Mark Southard is going to lecture on phoneography at the conference in SLC and hopefully we can interest enough for another group--or two. This group is SO talented

I disagree with the Stephen. I love the colour intensity and methinks much would be lost in mono. I do think think with Sanford the explanation had to be included to understand what the boys are doing but you chose a marvellous angle shooting up from a lower position. |

Excellent shot Sanford. You didn't say how your colour corrected was achieved but it has certainly made the image. Well done |
