May I also answer? I don't know if Nick uses this site but I have been using AC Flexible Frames for many years. It was suggested to me by a former member of this group, Mike Lillis. The have dozens of frames and I put it in PS under Actions.

Although I hate to disagree with my good friend Nick I prefer the image without the crop, it brings the insect into the dead centre (bullseye); your border, however, is not in dispute. |

John I have done a couple of wood cuts and it's fun but I found that judges are not attuned to them. The cropping is good and you have straightened out the bridge but the grey is too light. The simplest method is to use levels to boost the contrast, but I am sure there are many other ways.
I have used levels to show you what I did but somehow I can't add it here |

Keyboard language settings ??? Could be! I will ask Tom since I too have mine set to English UK! So far it appears on both mine and David's comments. I will bring it to Tom's attention once more |

How you come up with a winner each month baffles me. I have taken many of this type of image but nothing can equal what you have done. Superb!
BTW I asked our webmaster Tom Pickering about those peculiar little symbols.... potter ™s.... and he said he is working on them |

Not only the soft colour of the antique machine but adding sepia makes this outstanding. I could not add anything to improve this image, beautiful work! |

I think L to R is the way we read--unless you are Chinese! I never thought of the pink 'anchoring' it but indeed it does. |

I would've loved to have taken this! The sharpness of the insect is perfect. Judges so often reduce the score if the subject is not framed leading from L to R but I find this way my eye goes immediately to the dragonfly. The darkness above does not detract in fact it leads me to the main subject and I rather like the 'pinkness' on the LH side. Lovely image Oliver, well done! |

The expression the subject's face tells the story and I think Oliver's additions are good. A small point--I would have taken the blurred BG a step further to reduce the image of the chap's face over the subject's RH shoulder and got rid of the black stripe at 3 o'clock, perhaps even got rid of the yellow and made it black, but as I say a small detail. You did a fine job Phil, well done! |

Wonderful image Nick. I think Oliver was right to remove the reed that was 'attached' to him, had it been in his mouth would be unnecessary. Cannot add more, it's a great image either way. |

A beautiful image Bob, the corners are darkened to bring one's attention to the centre of the image and the stamens, well done! |

Very clever. One small point, I might have moved the frame a little so that the swan's beak would extend and be more visible against the black. Nevertheless, well done! |
