No question that it does indeed make a distinct difference and emphasises the mother's face |

Ye, David indeed it does improve the image, thank you. The black spot was obviously a mistake I didn't notice when posting |

David. although you don't know Carolyn (I had the great pleasure in meeting her a few years ago in St. Louis and feel privileged to call her 'friend'), she is an accomplished photographer/painter winning many awards. If she admires your work you can be sure it comes from the eye of an artist. She is just recovering from cancer and has not been contributing to group no. 41 regularly but in past months her work is beautiful. |

You have an eye David for the ordinarily unusual that never ceases to amaze me--taking the mundane and making a story from it. When I look at the original I can only think 99 out of 100 persons would have scrapped this. Once again I can offer no suggestions for change and I stand in awe of your artistry and am so happy that you are part of no. 5 |

A great Monochrome Phil. The whole image is so marvellously sharp, would like to have seen some details on the settings. I don't object to the building on the RH side but eliminating it perhaps does bring the wheel into more deliberate focus. Good job! |

As usual Nick your creative mind gives us a laugh. You do shadows so well. Can add nothing to say except looking at that windup key--OUCH! |

A great iguana capture. The blue on his head puzzles me and also on his '?jaw?' and a couple of spots on the body, to the R of his head, that look like raindrops, although I don't see any evidence of rain in the original. Please explain the blue parts, is it part of his colouring? I agree with Oliver, the green adds to the composition. |

John I like the exaggerated structure of the flower. It goes beyond the ordinary picture of the yellow hibiscus (I don't believe this is a daylily). There is some cleaning up necessary around the flower. Painting in black would do it and I can hear Nick saying, and I would agree, it would benefit from a frame. |

Although there is little difference between the before and after what you have done is effective in causing the subject, the mother, to stand out. The back lighting on her shoulder adds considerably. The baby's head and the mother's hand are somewhat out of focus but as swiftly as she was moving you did well to capture her face, the most important part, so well. Perhaps darkening the bright streak on the L side could bring more focus on the image. Good work ! |

Hooray for the limpkin, much nicer than a boring old sunset. Well done Jesse. BTW we had limpkins this year that would come right up to our terrace, never before had them near. |

Wes, as I replied to Marianne, in a General group one may submit an image of Colour, Mono, Infrared, Macro. Yes, we do have groups for all those categories, and more. In all those categories I expect the members to abide by and adhere to the theme of the group; therefore I would expect the administrator to admonish the member who submits a colour in a mono group, likewise, a flower in a sports group.
I would suggest however that if one wishes to concentration on and learn more about mono images that he/she join a mono group--one may join more than one group as long as they are of different themes.
(In my General group 5 I have two mono images this month). |
