Good pic and I agree with the other comments about cropping (the rule of thirds works good here). I live in southwest Florida and I shoot a lot of Snowy and Great Egrets and one of the biggest problems I have is getting detail in the bright white highlight areas. That bright white is hard to capture detail. Your shot is pretty well exposed but the area of the back behind the neck has no detail.I try to adjust my exposure but miss the mark a lot. I'm still trying to get the exposure right. I usually corrrect it somewhat in Lightroom but I'd rather have properly exposed image to start with. |

Charlie,
Overall a nice shot but just a little soft on the focus. Walter hit it right on the nose with the exposure info. I like the softness of the flowers and if the bird was a tad sharper it would be a really great shot! |

Sorry Walter but this one doesn't grab me at all. It just comes off too busy. I don't know what I would do to improve it. Maybe a closer focus emphasizing the detail. |

Thanks guys for the comments. I agree with them. Part of the problem is my lens. Its a kit lens that came with my camera and I have been having problems getting sharp images at the upper telephoto area. Have been looking at the Tamron 18-400 and its getting some pretty decent reviews plus its only around $650.. Anybody familiar with this lens? |
