Camera was on tripod about 1 metre from nest using 105mm lens. Focus was preset and set om manual. Drive mode was set to burst. Wireless remote switch was connected. I stood about 5 metres away. Just had to patiently for birds to pop up and looked for food and be quick with the trigger. Had a few opportunities over two days before nest and birds were destroyed by magpies.
Image is targeted for Nature competitions, so i cannot clone out the bottom branch. But could for Open comps.

27 Mar 20 Comment This is a soft and mellow shot that captures the softness and texture. The limited colours add to the feel. I feel it is very noisy, though this is effective in creating the softness. Mar 13th
27 Mar 20 Comment Good story here. The couple are well positioned on the side and i like the diagonal of the canal coming in and disappearing into the mist. The feeling of damp grey day is everywhere. Although very bright the mist work well. Mar 13th
27 Mar 20 Comment Nice capture of the cicada that shows all it features. Diagonal composition may be good. To me it appears a little flat and lacking some sharpness and detail. It does stand out on that background, though to me the background could be darkened a little and some contrast added to the cicada.
We have cicadas locally that are smaller but really noisy!		 Mar 13th
27 Mar 20 Comment The HDR processing has worked well to allow lots of detail to be shown. The Neon lights and the text are well placed in the frame. I might have cropped the bottom light out. Or tried a skew to remove the perspective lean. Mar 13th
27 Mar 20 Comment Yes, Just the legs and the full shadow make an interesting composition.Surprised (at that aperture) to still see some movement in the shoe and leg.
Perhaps a bit of contrast or other treatment just on the pavement and shadow would add some punch.		 Mar 13th
