Nadia, Thanks for the suggestion, I debated whether to leave some of the frame in the image, I like your version. |

Tom, Nicely executed. It reminds me of one of my very first images in which I added cat eyes to my father's face, my mother didn't like the Devil Dad. I really like your choice to do a close cropping of the face. I might consider cloning out a couple bits of distracting food particles on either side of the mouth. |

50 years, incredible! I love how photoshop allows you to combine images from many stages of life bringing vitality back to them. It is the one thing that makes me not despair when I look at the massive archive of images in my database that have never seen the light of day, someday! This image has a playful and balance feeling. I have no specific suggestions for improvement. |

Matt, when I first viewed your image your first image was different. Not sure if it was corrected or my computer was glitching |

Maria, Thank you for this handling. I agree there is something imbalanced in my image which I continue to find challenging and your suggestion gives me some additional angles to pursue. |

Alan, I like your handling too. In looking back on this image there is something about the bricks and trees that reminds me of one of Magritte's images. |

Kirsti, Thanks, I had a similar reaction when I first juxtaposed these elements. |

Matt, I agree there is something not fully balanced about these horizontal lines, yet, they do integrate the banding on the trees with the lines of the bricks. I will likely play more with the amount and extent of opacity and the transition points. |

Alan, My first reaction to the image was the swastika was distracting and cheapened the image. As I went back to review the image I had a completely new response. The swastika is a profound violation of the beauty of this well preserved tunnel. That period of our history was not pretty and this makes a powerful message juxtaposed with this timeless beautiful passage and a religious man who symbolizes thousands of years of tradition. I didn't notice the open door on my first viewing. I admire your attention to detail as great images reveal more on repeated viewings. |

Maria, I agree with many of the comments. It does feel like there are too many elements to create a balanced message, but overall it is a pleasing evocative image. I find the fog layer a little unnatural, a little too band like. I wonder if this was toned down and softened some if it would enhance the mood more. |

Kirsti, I really like what you have done with this image. The muted tones and selective color handling all create a powerful evocative image. I like your choice of an extra wide image as it creates a powerful interplay between the subject and the background. Although many of the suggestions make sense to me, the image is on target as is and one can always add additional tweaks. |

Matt, I very much like this image for many of the reasons shared. The colors are very pleasing. I am a big fan of trees and their interesting bark too! I agree with the distraction smaller building. One thing I noticed on my monitor is a sharp edge at the far right bottom of the building. It is the only part of the building that suggested it may be pasted on, I might add some additional trailing shadow or some type of softening of that edge.
It looks like Peggy accidentally put part of my image on your original, it would be nice if we could see your original building. |
