Nadia, Another striking image with a beautiful handling of both the lighting proportion and story. I have nothing to add except my appreciation of your artistry. |

Tom, I also enjoy the simplicity of this image. The static and blurry elements combine nicely to create mystery and nicely tie together your image, gently nudged by your title. |

Brian, This is a beautiful and provocative image. I agree with Hazel in not fully understanding how the elements connect but I'm ok with surreal imagery that allows the viewer to wrestle with meaning. Nicely done. |

Here's a very crude mock up using generative expand to increase the top some and then adding a flame added and liquifying to have the flame start to respond to the swirl you were working on. |

Melissa, I find your cute pooch a playful subject in this image. I wonder if she would feel more natural in this image if you added a drop shadow to the right of her as the tape shows a few shadows from itself on the right side. |

Hazel, You have a nice image you've started with much potential. It's seems to me you could add a flame to add some visual contrast. With regards to the placement of the swirl. Have you tried creating on a separate layer and positioning it where you want it. You could certainly expand what you have with generative expand and then move the swirl you have up to have the current swirl centering around the top of the candle. |

Peggy, Thank you. I thought about adding a border to bring out the edges but thought it might be distracting, I was wrong. Your suggestion really sells the surreal effect I was trying to achieve. |

Bruce, Thank you, I appreciate your feedback. I often end up with darker images as I view them in the dark while editing in bed. People often point out they are dark and I have to pay more attention to the final viewing environment. |

Bruce, Another masterfully crafted image. I am not familiar with the use of look up tables, something I'm going to have to read up on now after being drawn into the rich golden landscape |

Alan, I enjoyed the discovery process as my eyes moved over the image. I was a bit disappointed after I discovered the 666 theme to have it so strongly spelled out in the title. I might suggest a different title that leaves a little more to the viewer to discover. On a second viewing I enjoyed seeing how the cross, the marble statue of Jesus and the devil all recapitulate the cross shape and wonder if there is something in that shape that could be developed here or in another image. |

Maria, So many interesting elements here. I love the stunning forrest but agree with the groups suggestion to simplify the background so as to draw attention to the subjects. I have been faced many times in this group with people telling me I need to remove the background and often take offense when it was the building block of the image. Visual story making does seem to force us to make compromises at times. A few tweaks and you have a very strong, playful and provocative image. |

Kirsti, I like the colors and hues you've combined. I didn't quite get the alien theme at first. I find the image a little cluttered feeling with the beacon so close to the aliens. I wonder if an image without the beacon and the aliens being a little more alien like might be visually stronger, but I realize that would be a departure from how you developed the theme. |

Matt, Nicely done. I agree you've effectively simulated reality here. I join you this month in attempting the same, I even used reality as my title. I'm looking forward to seeing how you take images to the next level. |

Matt, I see what you mean. Might be tricky adjusting given the various angles but I agree. |

I wonder if anyone has a comment on this version in which I create a black border and have the waterfall spill outside of the image. |

Peggy, What a successful image you've created here. It has a beautiful balance and lovely colors. If you were looking for alternatively handlings I might play with the Gaussian blur and paint back his face some and consider adding an object exactly in his gaze path like a woman sitting on a bench at the bottom right. This might require generative expand to add space on the bottom right and cropping the left to balance the image, or just leave it how it is! |
