Kathy, Thanks for giving this image such careful attention. I'm not sure it is salvageable at this point. I did make some modifications as suggested by the group and I'm on to the next one. Sometimes its fun to just play around with various elements and once done, save and move on. Hope you had a Merry Christmas! |

Lisa, Good ideas. I did remove the top of the water and agree it was too bright and distracting. I also agree the choice of an egret doesn't fit the location but it was the only bird that fit the image on other levels. |

Tom, Thanks for the feedback. I did go back and increase the backpacker size and I agree he was too small. |

Henry, You are correct. I was aware of the problem. As with many of my explorations, I don't hold myself to a high standard of accuracy but I do appreciate the feedback. |

Susan, This is not my best thought out piece. Sometimes I share fully formed images, other times I share works in progress. I appreciate your feedback. |

Henry, I hope you will never take my suggestions as criticism. Also, they reflect my personal preferences which clearly are just that. Keep doing what you are doing, I am enjoying seeing your creations. |

Lisa, As always I find your images compelling and nicely crafted. I have the same suggestion as a prior image. The eyes and eyelashes are distracting to me as they feel more stuck on and of a different contrast than the other more muted feel of the rest of the image. |

Tom, Another super strong image on many fronts, compostion, handling of black and white, and story. There's something about the bottom of the image that feels distracting to me. I wonder if you were to crop out a little bit of the bottom of the image if that might create a better balance. |

Susan, I love this building image both in color and in black and white. Although I understand your intent with reducing opacity I find the see through bricks distracting. When I've wanted a translucent subject but find the background distracting I will often clone a more neutral background under the subject so the subject is transparent but not distracting. |

Henry, Happy to see you continue in your explorations. I recall a period when I played with each filter quite a bit. I typically apply the filter, see what I like about it and use that as a starting point for where to take the image. This image feels like the filter was applied and no further thought was given to a message. Maybe it is my personal bias but I like images that have something to say. |

Kathy, Such a fun image. I have noticed a lot of mushrooms popping up lately, your image inspires me. Maybe next month I will have a mushroom focused image (I snuck one in this month coincidentally). I not familiar with the "match colors" under adjustments, can you give more details? |

Peggy, It's amazing how many options we have available to us. It can be difficult choosing the best option. I appreciate your feedback. |

Peter, Thanks for your suggestion. It's always a challenge with photoshop given the range of options we have. I wonder your take on the revised version I shared with Aavo. |

Peggy, A wonderful exploration. I enjoy the colors, the story, the movement and the dynamic elements of this image. I favor the first image as the hummingbird is distracting to me |

Peter, This is a wonderfully evocative image. Your granddaughter is an exceptional model whose look sells the image. My personal preference would be to dial back the sepia tone some as it creates a darker mood than I feel from the look. One option would be reduce the sepia tone just on her face some to draw even more attention to her. Lastly, I might try to blend the edge of the hill with the lighthouse more as it looks a little stuck on. |

Alan, A nice simple and powerful image which implies a story, leaving the viewer to ponder. Nicely done. |

Maria, This is a very compelling and beautiful image. The colors and lighting are stunning. I find the water below the boat a little distracting and wonder if you were to have more fog and less ocean visible if it might create more mystery and sell the virtues of the lighthouse. |

Kathy, I like your composite very much. I have been to that beach! I personally find the arch of the bridge too distracting. There is a power in the couple venturing off into the light and a smaller arch or something less concrete might be more magical |

Aavo, I agree with Alan, the image is strong on its own. The flower and bottle don't add as much, partly because they aren't very clear. The bottle looks oddly compressed and the flowers seem pixelated and not very clear. |

Aavo,Thanks for the feedback. I wonder if I blurred the trailing wings of the butterfly if that might tie everything together more |
