Henry, Thanks for your suggestion. You drew my attention to the mouth. I do like the idea of having something come out of it. I like the idea of having a kid playing hide and seek. Will play with it more. I added a hue/saturation layer mask to the flower layer and painted with a brush to add or remove colors. If you need more details email me and I can try to walk you through it. |

Jan, I agree. Some of those were soft in the original image. I may try erasing those. |

Lisa, I love what you've done with this headstone. I could imagine thousands of people knealing before this flower god. I really like your choice of a black background and selection of colors. Nothing to add this month. |

Jan, This is beautifully handled and a keeper. I have nothing to add this month, print and hang it. |

Tom, I don't think I can look at you the same again ;). This is excellent. I like your handling of all aspects of the image from the sizes, colors, contrast and concept. I think your cookie cutter clones are great here and I would keep them. Nice you were able to recycle the ball for this image, it's even more effective in this image. I have no suggestions this month. Looking forward to what you create next month! |

Maryellen, What a clever idea and nicely done. The proportions seem slightly off, i.e. I'd like to see one of the planets a slightly different size as the two big ones are nearly identical. Maybe I am just used to our solar system that has objects at greater distances creating more novel sizes. |

Another great technique exploration Henry. Since there are so many filters now available that can be applied to your image with a click, they've changed the game with regards to which effect one choooses. The original has such vivid colors and I feel the muting that is created by this effect doesn't improve on the overall impact of the image as you've flattened the image. I often will apply the filter to a separate layer and then apply a layer mask and erase away some of the filter effect to bring attention to the subject. I might try erasing some of the impressionist filtering to bring the flowers out as a point of interest |

Kathy, I like what you are doing with this image. The neglected cemetery works nicely in black and white. Your handling of partial transparency sells the ghost like qualities well. I wonder if you might give some more attention to placement. As an example the overlap of the hawkes body and urn feels a bit distracting, especially since you can decide where you want the bird to rest. I also might consider cropping the right edge or clone out the edges of the pine needles as they don't add anything to the picture. |
