Henry, I try to keep my image uncompressed till after I post here, in case I get some good ideas. In the end, this is about having fun. I think you are, so don't worry about any of this stuff. |

Lisa, I took this many years ago. I think it was a dry river bed/salt deposit. I used a hard light blend mode on part of the image. I had taken the bud out as I liked the pac man like look of the one plant aiming to eat the other flower but I do miss it too. I think the angle you place it at is very pleasing and I might just bring it back after seeing your handling. Thanks! |

Lisa, Another beautifully handled image. I like both versions. I am interested in learning more about in camera focus stacking if you are willing to share. |

Jan, I admire your ability to create a project like this for yourself. I love the simplicity of it and fine the black and white lines mesmerizing. My only suggestion would be to try to enhance the three dimensional aspects of the cat, maybe a drop shadow |

Lisa, This is a nicely executed image that nails the antique and fun qualities you were seeking. I imagine your nephew was thrilled. It would be fun to do a family portrait with everyone having an animal head (I've done many variants of this for my holiday card, some better received than others- the pez family image caused quite a number of negative reactions) |

Maryellen, This is a very powerful and beautiful image. I love how you've handled the composition. Having the sun flower spill over the edge of the frame is very effective here. The handling of the forward facing flower with the bee is very strong. The way the other flowers frame the central flower enhances the power of the central flower and evokes strong feelings of awe and admiration for this flower in me. I wonder if you were to nudge the top right flower to the right a bit, so it overlaps a little less with the central flower, if that might make it slightly less cramped feeling but this may just be a personal taste thing. |

Henry, I like your exploration with layers. The colors are very pleasing to my eye and the cropping seems right on. I find the green from the leaves distracting where it overlaps with the yellow of the orchid. Photoshop is an amazing tool that allows you to do so much. Sometimes less is more. I would suggest erasing the overlap of the green with the yellow to allow the orchid to become a more prominent foreground element. |

Kathy, I love what you've done with this image. It is timeless and very evocative. The mood you've created with the texture is perfect for this image. Well done. |

Peggy, Thanks for your input. You always have great suggestions. I will have to play with the 3D idea as that will likely take the picture in a whole new direction. |

Aavo, Sometimes I enjoy playing with a filter until the original image is no longer recognizable. This often helps shut down my rational mind and allows me to enter a more creative mindset. |

Alan, Another very strong image. You have succeeded nicely in understating the message, creating a very compelling image. I really like how crisp the foreground man's hair is. There is a vertical line next to the man's face that is mildly distracting. Not sure if it is in the original but I might consider cloning in some of the stones to remove it. |

Betty, I like the idea here. The cat watching the spider makes sense but I'm not sure the altered coloration of the spider adds to the image. I also find the rectangular edge around the flower distracting. I might try extending the fuzzy pixelated purple to cover the background of the cat part so as to remove the distracting element of the man in the chair. |

Kathy, I really like the concept you are working on. I wonder if the other dimension were handled with more contrast and sharper if it may sell the inter-dimensional illusion more. |

Peggy, I like the way the foot prints direct the eye up to the house. The simplicity of the image is also very appealing. One minor item is a stray vertical linear fragment to the right of the cloud. I also wonder if you cropped the top more if it may feel less top heavy. I also feel like a foreground element might help some. Your image reminded me a little of Andrew Wyeth's famous painting. |

Aavo, I like what you've done here. I think the setting makes this image a bit more timeless and leaves some room for other interpretations. The woman and background are nicely handled. The placement of the spheres is not natural feeling, i.e. if you want to create a sense of them moving out in space or time the one closest to the woman should be higher up, or have all the others lower down. Two other minor issues. The third virus is handled differently than the others which I find distracting. I also wonder if you added a drop shadow or other lighting to create more of a 3D spherical feel, that would be more powerful. I am totally with you regarding wanting this to be a distant memory. |
