Lisa, Yes, everyone picked up on that detail. The challenge of working with the image as it is made it hard to easily fix that detail. |

Jan, Yes, I played around with this a lot as I hate things that spoil the magic. When I add in the other details it looses something. I'm sure you've had times where you've had to compromise on some detail. If this was one of my better images I may try working harder on selling the feet. |

Kathy, Thank you for reworking my image so skillfully. Despite your comments on how fixing my friends feet is a "easy fix for you" I had some troubles and looking at your reworking it is pretty easy. I guess I wasn't persistent enough. The sun star is a nice effect too, thanks. |

Maryellen, This is a very nice first attempt. I don't know of any specific tutorials. I do recall photoshop having an option with its 3D program that allows for putting faces on spheres. Your image is nicely composed. The face on the pumpkin appears very flat. I would start with increasing the contrast. You might also consider a photo from a different angle. I've attached an image I had done years ago of a pumpkin face. The nose being at an angle helped to create a more 3D effect. Unfortunately I did it about 10 years ago so I don't remember how I did it but hopefully it will give you some idea of how contrast and a different angle may help. |

Lisa, I like both the original and the polar coordinate version. This is a very provocative image. It looks like a mandala, I could see this being used as a focus of meditation. The blue color is quite soothing, nicely done. |

Henry, I like where you are going with this idea. I usually will go back to my original and ask myself if all the messing around has made a more interesting image. This photo doesn't top the beautiful original in my opinion. I might use the rule of 1/3 here and make the reflected area smaller. I also might darken it or desaturate it some to make it appear separate and distinct from what is being reflected, possibly add a little blur too. This is certainly an important creative exploration with much to be learned. Keep at it, you are on to something here. |

Jan, What a great technique you are exploring. The choice to use a "tunnel type" vertical image is perfect for this type of image. I am going to play around with this idea sometime as it looks like a great way to create interesting tension in an image. |

Kathy, I have experimented with painting with light on camping trips many times. Your image is beautifully executed. I love how you preplanned the colors and shapes. I think you should play more with the original as the faces in it are very spooky and surreal. You've inspired me to preplan a little more when I do this. |

Aavo, I like this one. The tonal range and colors works for me. I like how the flowers in the blouse match with the flowers on the table/grave? My only suggestion would be to work on softening the sharp edges on the ladies face as it looks too cut out. |

Alan, Another wonderful surreal image. I live in the "East Bay" which makes this one fun for me. I think you've done a great job here. I think it works as is. One thing I might try, if it were my picture would be to erase the right edge of the woman's head as the clouds streaming out might look interesting if they looked like they were coming out of the head like brains. |

Peggy, This is a very evocative image. I have spent quite a bit of time with images of waves and birds so it is a comforting place for me too. Your choice of colors is interesting. The pink/blue hues in the top half and the greenish hue in the bottom along with the low contrast images of the birds create a nostalgic retro feel for me. My sensibilities, as you've probably gathered, move more into the darker tonal range. I wonder if a darker tonal scheme might be fun to play with as well if you have the time. |

Betty, Nicely done. The bell looks like it was always there. I wonder if a different frame may be more resonant with the theme of the photo as the digital one you created feels very modern, otherwise it creates a wonderful sense of period. Two other suggestions. I think some type of texture, tonal change or myst might create the illusion of something from the past. Also the size of the photo seems a little small to my eye. |

Betty, Thank you, that is very helpful. I will try to eliminate that distracting element. |
