62 Dec 18 Comment Thanks for your comments. Glad someone got the Duke Ellington reference. It is actually the same train. but nearer to Washington Heights than to Harlem. The removal of the bicycle did make the woman stand out more, but for me, I enjoy discovering little bits of minutia in the background of of photos. Anyway, thanks everyone for the encouragement and have a happy holiday season. Dec 8th
62 Dec 18 Comment This is a great action nature shot! There is great bokeh for the background and great subject sharpness. In the monochrome version, the photo appears flat due to the low light and similarity of tone of monkeys and their background. This photo works much better in color. The subjects stand out much better in the original. A really nice shot. Dec 8th
62 Dec 18 Comment A great holiday shot. It is well composed and probably works better as a monochrome since it eliminated the orange fire distraction from the background. I'm certain working with a live model, especially the family pet afforded many challenges. Given the slow shutter speed and large aperture, you did pretty well. Focusing on the dogs right eye rather than the nose would have made for a stronger image. The catch light in the left eye creates the appearance better focus even though it is a bet further away. Great pose, fun shot; nicely done. Dec 8th
62 Dec 18 Comment Very interesting abstract shot. Given your description of the shot I would have liked to see how the ice pool would have looked in relationship to the rest of the environment. Of course that would be a totally different shot. The photo has a nice dynamic range and good contract. My only suggestion has to do with the title. Maybe something more intriguing that could serve to guide the viewer into the image. Since "hidden face" has been mentioned, a title like frozen face, phantom face, etc might might work.

62 Dec 18 Comment A nicely captured "street photo" There is a lot going on in the photo. The juxtaposition of the mannequin and the woman really works well. Anything than would draw the viewer to those two elements of the photo would make for a stronger image; maybe cropping, a vignette or more dodging and burning. You certainly seem to have the street photographer eye. Dec 8th
62 Dec 18 Comment A very strong and unique image. The dynamic range give a real 3D look and feel to you photo. This is the most interesting cat photo I thing I've ever seen. I really like the reflection in the right eye. It might be fun to add something else in the reflection; a mouse maybe. Very creative approach; nicely done. Dec 8th
62 Dec 18 Comment This is a great people photo that really works well in monochrome. The tells an interesting story. The triangle formed by the two subjects eyes and the tattoo needle holds the interest on the action in the photo. There are a few minor distractions that could be easily cleaned up and a little more pop on the tattoos might be interesting, but overall a great job! Dec 8th
