The adage about bad weather being good weather for photography seemed to ring true with this photo. As the photo was shot looking down the Hudson at the building close to the shore there may be a ever so slight of lean toward the river.
Thanks for your comments. |

A lot of cloning, but worth it I think. The triangle formed with the musicians gaze and her right and left hand hold the viewers focus on the subject nicely. There is a lovely calming feel to the photo. Very nice work. |

Hattie, this is a great idea for a photo. Action shots and athletic events have plenty of challenges for the photographer. You've done a pretty good job of dealing the the burned out sky. You might want consider fill flash to get more light on the subject and even out the dynamic range when you come across similar situation in the future.
Overall there is great energy and emotion it this photo. Shooting a bit further back would have given you the option of getting the entire javelin and well as the subject legs in frame as well as moving the subject a bit more off center. Since it's too late to do this you might think about a closer crop with just the head, arm and upper torso. I really like the energy of this shot. |

You've done a quite respectable job with an iconic subject. Being a Northern California resident, I've gotten to see many versions of this subject over the years.
Comparing the photo with the original, monochrome offers a much stronger image and serves to make use of the fog almost like bokeh in the background while increasing the emphasis on the main subject of the photo. Nicely done. |

You've really been able to capture the musicians mood through his expression Oliver. The line from the trumpet does a good job of drawing the viewer into the face of your subject. Yes a vignette might add a little. My personal taste would be a bit more contrast, but that's a personal choice; it works find as it. Nice work! |
