Thanks all for you comments. Not sure about the motion blur comment. I've noticed that sizing the original photo to a jpeg post seems to effect the image detail a bit. |

A very exotic and attractive subject. I like the way the mono effect tones down the lips and the otherwise distracting orange colors in the hair. You did a nice job with the clarity and sharpness of the eyes. Although the skin may seem a bit to smooth, it does serve the purpose of drawing the focus to the eyes. Very nicely done. |

You have created a very impressionistic photo. To me this is more of a fine arts photo that requires time to be contemplated to enjoy the various levels. You definitely should consider making a print so viewers can let the subtle effects of the photo sink in over time. It's not so much what this photo looks like, but how it makes you feel when you look at it. Great job! |

A beautiful action shot. The background effect is amazing. I agree with Oliver that there may not be quite enough difference between the main subjects and the background. I've had some luck using the control point with Nik's Viveza 2 suite. You can adjust the size of the bush to a specific area and then play around with the shadow adjustment, contrast, brightness and structure sliders to get the desired effect. The control point in Viveza seems to work better than the one in Silver Efex, even though it's a mono photo. Of course you could put the subject and the background on different layers and adjust them separately. It would be a lot of work. Anyway, I love the effect you got with the background. You should try to work that into to other photos. It's a very creative effect. |

A well done photo journalistic shot. You certainly have the knack for capturing the peak of action. Clearly you know a bit about the sport and how to anticipate the possibilities. The harsh look is reminiscent of a sports magazine or the sports section of a news paper. Monochrome seems perfect for sports shots. You've told a great story. I was wondering about a vignette too. Great work! |

The idea of a butterfly photo in monochrome is almost antithetical, but by focusing on the body rather than the wings, you have made it work. Because there is no color to compete for the viewers attention the focus remains on the main subject of the photo; a unique and creative idea. Nicely done. |
