I enjoyed the uniqueness of your photograph. It seems to emote a sense of serenity and peacefulness; a wonderful mood creation. The minor adjustments did improve the clarity, but did not detract from the overall feeling. The addition of the mist was a very creative touch. |

Just wondered if you needed a release for the people in you photo? |

Thanks for the feedback Hattie; It seems from the comments to date, I probably took the "submit something you are working on" too literally. I guess I'll need to spend more time on the next submission.
Yes, I put the negative against the window. Make sure it's flat against the surface. You can use any lens, but a macro lens or an extension tube would be better. Since the light is coming from the back, you won't need to worry about shadows. You may need a tripod. Make sure you get the focus right. I use Adobe Elemets to invert the image. I think there is a way to invert with Lightroom too. Just Google it. Good luck. |

Thanks for your comments. It probably wasn't the best sky for this photo. Anyone who has been to Death Valley, CA would probably have known that these clouds don't fit the scene well. This photo was kind of a rainy day project that I wanted to try. I can see that there is plenty of room for improvement |

Being able to create a sense of movement and dynamism in a still photo is a skill you certainly possess. I like the energy you have created in this image. The photo also works well in color, but in mono it totally eliminates any possible distraction from you subject. A very powerful image nicely none. |

It's getting to be almost impossible to avoid the cell phone in people photos. Your composition manages to almost totally eliminate the intrusiveness of the phone and capture some great expressions. The human factor is really strong in your photo and your cropping choice works well. A great street shot. |

Great shot! Street photography can be a challenge, but you nailed this one. Besides the wonderful expression on faces and feeling of a warm interaction between the people, you created a nice sense of depth with the converging parallels and the stool in the foreground. I second Oliver's Nik recommendation. It's easy to use and can increase your control over post processing and I think you can still get it free. |

Using the reflections as part of your composition was an interesting approach. Instead of an annoyance, the reflections add a subtle addition to your composition that makes for a whole different level of complexity to the image. Also increasing the saturation on the original photo was a great tip.
You were really able to make the image pop with the mono conversion and the subtle changes you made. See the potential in an image like this is a talent. Nicely none. |

Oliver,
Thanks for critique and your suggestions. Clearly the adjustments you made were an improvement. I may try to work with more negatives and slides in the future |
