I didn't go far from our car while the nice young man was fixing the tire. The most interesting subjects were behind my back where the old man was sitting and his surroundings, but he didn't allow me to photograph him. So I snapped some random subjects near by. If We were not short on time and a long drive ahead, I would have photograph the dwellings in the background!

Thank you so much Sharon! I love the tone and contrast you did. I really need to spend sometime learning channel swap. I used Hue and Saturation / Monochrome tool in Adobe Raw to desaturate the red and orange. |

I snapped a few shots while getting help from the nice Indian young man, I did feel sort of guilty taking pictures while someone is doing the work, so I stayed near didn't venture far from our car. I did wish the old man behind me would let me photograph him and his surrounding.

The place we visited - Ah-shi-sle-pah Wilderness Study Area, New Mexico. The Wilderness Study Area (WSA) has multicolored badlands, sandstone hoodoos, petrified wood and dinosaur bones, similar to those found in the nearby Bisti Badlands and De-Na-Zin Wilderness.
I found it by accident while googling what and where to photograph before the trip. It's in Navajo Indian Nation, no road , no map, we followed a GPS latitude and longitude we found on the internet, hiked and wondered in there for hours and went back in to to photograph milky way on our last day there, it was a lifetime experience.
The scenery behind me in this image was very interesting, there was an old Indian sitting in front of his very decorative porch, but we pointed our camera away from him and all out of respect of the Navajo people.
What laid in front of me was like a deserted land, discarded tires, truck frame and parts scattered. I was amazed by how people can live and get by with so little of what the have or don't have, but some others can never seems to get enough no matter how much they have.
