Here is a B&W version of the shot. I zereoed out all color saturation in Lightroom except for the blue channel which I set to -11 because I liked how it made the water look. I also did +10 on the contrast. What do you think? |

I think you did a great job capturing the arid scene and that you have a very nice image. What is more important, you know the feel you were trying to capture better than anyone else. Over the years I have had people point out small things along the edges of my images that needed to be removed or corrected, so I've become more conscious of those imperfections. I now try to incorporate a scan around the borders as a final check in all my edits, I catch a lot of them, but I still find some I miss. It seems like when you look at the image long enough, some of those small things just get overlooked! I'm glad you find my comments useful. |

I think this is a great image and like your composition, focus, depth of field and lighting. Nice job with the catch light in the eye. |

I think this is a nice photograph and like how you used fill flash to illuminate the cactus and how you captured the colors in the sky with the silhouette of the mountains. In my opinion the fill flash did a nice job highlighting the details on the cactus without blowing out the surrounding plants. My only suggestion would be to give consideration to tone down the tips of the bushes in the lower right corner, because to me, they seem about 1 stop brighter than the surrounding ones. |

I think this is a great example of the power of photography to document and emphasize the pressure and damage the environment is under. I like the depth of field, composition and how you warmed the light on the big tree in your final image, but I like the sky better in the original shot. I find the couple of branches in the upper left corner as slightly distracting.
Did you give any consideration to making your post processing edits on a localized basis?
I've made an edit in Lightroom for your consideration with localized edits, warming the trees and bushes, but leaving the sky blue and removing the branches in the upper left corner. |

I find this a great, fun, photograph. I think you did a great job with the composition, lighting, depth of field and focus. I like how you edited the photo to eliminate some of the extraneous birds, leaving only those that were marching along with the Lieutenant, and how you captured the Lieutenant checking out his troops over his shoulder. |

I think this is a very nice photograph of a beautiful bird, one I have never seen before. In my opinion, the focus, lighting, depth of field, and composition are all well done. You got him in a great pose and I like the texture you captured in the bird's feathers and the rock.
My only suggestion would be to consider elimating one of the catchlights in the bird's eye.
I like your image and think it was well done. |
