Thanks for your comments. I chose this image with the yellow leaf because I thought the shape and coloring echoed the snake. I was curious how others would react to it. |

Thanks for your feedback. This was the closest I've ever been to one of these guys. I've never been a fan of snakes, but the snake wrangler provided some interesting information about them. I'm looking at them with a more open mind now. |

I find this to be a very nice image with the main subject in sharp focus and the lighting certainly highlights the textures of the owl.
Personally, I prefer the colors of the owl in the original image because I think the feathers around the eyes looks better.
Did you give any consideration to cropping the image a little closer? That may add additional impact to the owl.
Overall, I think this is a great image. |

Painting involves an extremely long exposure time allowing one to slowly move the light around the scene to provide light into areas that may not/would not get adequate illumination from a flash or other light source. Painting with light would typically be done in manual mode.
I agree with Janice that the center of the flower is a little too soft for me.
If I'm reading your description correctly, it sounds like you combined images from different angles? Typically in a photo stack, the camera and exposure would remain unchanged and only the point of focus would move.

I find this an interesting image-an abstract that is readily identifiable. To me the colors and textures work well together and I like the "pop" of colors and light in your final image. I think you did a great job. |
