I like this image and it appears much sharper to me throughout than the original. In my opinion, you did a good job using the fence and river as leading lines to the well lit mountain top. The foreground is pleasing to me and in my opinion adds depth. |

I like both images. I think removal of the lily pad changes the feel of the image significantly-not for better or worse, it just creates a different feeling for me. The best part, two great images from a single shot! |

I think this is a very nice shot. I like the composition, depth of field and sharpness of the image and how you captured the details in the bird's eye. |

Thom, I think this is a nice shot of a sitting hummingbird. I agree with David on the radial blur.
I don't know if you had a chance to see a recent post by Larry Treadwell on our group's bulletin board with a link to a video on editing birds eyes, but if not, here is the link:

I thought it did a good job of showing techniques for emphasizing a bird's eye. |

Janice, I think this is a great scene-another calendar or postcard shot. To me the image is sharp throughout and I like the composition and think you did an excellent job adding the clouds and the reflections.
For my taste, the mountains seem a little flat and washed out. I played around with your image a bit by making some localized adjustments in Lightroom to the highlight area of the mountain on the right (highlights -73) and then adding a graduated filter on the sky and mountains (Highlights -66, Shadows 25, clarity 15, dehaze 37, sharpness 26) and finally added a vignette (amount -16, midpoint 79, roundness 14, feather 28, highlights 36).
I'm not sure if these edits are consistent with the feeling you wanted to convey or not. What do you think? |

David, I think this is a very nice image that sends a message of peace and tranquility. I like the composition, especially how you framed the main subject and you kept separation between the flower and the nearby lily pad and how you captured the reflection. I find the image sharp, good depth of field and to me, the colors are warm and pleasing. |

Thanks for your feedback David. I didn't notice it before, but I must agree, the bright green pine needle through the middle of the turtle is distracting. It seems to be one of those things where you don't see it until you see it and then you can't unsee it! Based on your feedback I've done some additional editing. What do you think? |

Pauline, I agree with David. This scene reminds me of a calendar shot or a postcard.
I think you did a great job using the leading lines of the fences, stream and foreground vegetation to emphasize depth of field and to draw the viewer into the scene. I too find the foreground and background soft and agree with David's suggestions. Another possibility might be to try focus stacking to create a sharp image throughout. If you are unfamiliar with focus stacking, here is a link to a short video that provides a good overview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAKLyjwbwCo
Did you consider removing the tree limbs on the left side of the image? In my opinion they are distracting and I would suggest removing them either by cropping the image a little tighter or by cloning them out. I have attached an image where I cropped it slightly to remove them. |
