I also think this is a great story. I feel you did a very good job of capturing the sense of the moment. |

I am by no means an expert with Lightroom, but have found that using the graduated or radial filters to make localized adjustments will generally result in a better final product than making global changes that impact the entire image. |

Thanks for the feedback Kerry. I should have switched from auto focus to manual so I could have controlled the depth of field better. |

I too like those first signs of spring. I find the color pleasing and agree with Janice that the highlight to the right is a little distracting.
Did you consider a crop with a 2:1 ratio? That would create a banner like image and would reduce some of the space above and below the image. I have attached a crop to show what I mean. |

I like the story this image tells along with the lighting, texture, lines and colors of the rocks, trees and sky. In my opinion, the natural lines draw the viewer's attention from the front, to main subjects and then to the background.
In my opinion, the saturation of the colors of the cattle, background foliage, cloud and sky was a little better in the original image.
Overall, I think this is a nice image with a great story.

I like how you captured the action of this scene, the colors, sharpness of the front bird, the textures and the depth of field.
I have mixed feelings on the crop. Personally, I would have liked to have seen a little more of the front bird's wings and more of the back bird's legs and wings.
Overall, I think this is a nice photo with a great story to tell. |

I have a love-hate-relationship with these guys. I enjoy watching them and find them somewhat fascinating, at the same time they drive me nuts as I try to keep them out of my bird feeders!
I like how you have positioned the subject in the frame. The image appears soft overall to me as well and I agree with Janice that it is probably from too slow of a shutter speed. I also see magenta in the squirrel's fur. |

Thanks for the feedback Janice. The soft focus on the little mushroom is a result of me trying to take "the easy way out". I shot the image in auto focus which was clearly a mistake and it gave me to much sharpness in front of my main subject and not enough to cover the little guy in the back. I should have gone into manual mode where I would have been able to control my depth of field better. I went back to try and re-shoot it, but by that time a critter had come and eaten it!
As for the post work on removing some of the dirt spots, I think you are correct - they were part of the story and I should have left them. |
