48 Apr 19 Comment All of the choices you made in this photo seem to work really well! I don't find the clutter distracting because you have created an image where the subject is so compelling... ok after several glances maybe it could be cropped down a little just so the white and black thing in the upper right are not quite as obvious. He looks like he is having a good time. This is a very nice image. Apr 4th
48 Apr 19 Comment Hi Yun! What a beautiful image! Love the colors and reflections! Nice composition! Would make a great postcard or framed print for one of the hotels. The pink works wonderfully btw! Apr 4th
48 Apr 19 Comment This is a really nicely composed shot(and I am fascinated by graffiti!)! I like the composition, the different textures and the added warmth very much. The dressed up graffiti guy and the guy in the swim trunks make a great pair to contrast. What an interesting image! Apr 4th
48 Apr 19 Reply Hi Margaret- I added some info about the picture in comments below. I should have sent a statement to Bev to post but lost track of time. Thank you - I really appreciated your comments! Apr 4th
48 Apr 19 Comment I probably should say something about this photo... I wrote to Bev to explain my absence last month. I have been working on setting up a portrait studio. I have never liked doing portrait studio type pictures but it has occurred to me that if I learned to do portraits I might learn a little more discipline in my photography and also have a better eye for lighting. I know nothing about using flash or setting up lighting- am learning from scratch. Sent this picture of Alex to Bev just to show what I have been up to. He was my first victim/subject...and was willing just to help me out. I couldn't get one of the flashes to work so this is with a single flash using an umbrella- still managed to get blown out spots. Muslin back grounds wrinkle- I didn't think to get clamps. Should have chosen a different color. etc. Have been reading up since, watching videos and so on. The pressure is that several people have asked me to take their photographs and am no where near the skill level they think I am. I used my Canon 7D (flash wouldn't fire on my full sensor 5D... still have to find out why...probably some obscure menu setting) and a 50mm lens. 1/80 sec at f/1.8. Apr 4th
48 Apr 19 Comment I really like this image! I would crop out that other building on the left but you did a very nice job with the colors and capturing the textures of the old wood and ice on the roof! Apr 4th
48 Apr 19 Comment I was looking at this picture when my friend's 16 year old daughter came in. She looked at it and said "Ohhhhh I've seen that guy- he's on that commercial for fish isn't he?" Ummmm I don't think so... But hey! My first thought was someone was fishing on a California street in floodwater... I think it's one of those pictures that catches the eye and captures the imagination. Wonder if he caught anything. I would tone down the one bright red light but not eliminate it. The fishing pole makes a nice leading line back to the fisherman and the lights over his head seem serve as a boundary to pause the eye on him. Street photography is what it is- some things you can't and don't want to control. Very nice image! Apr 4th
48 Apr 19 Comment This image just popped for me. Like Margaret my first reaction was Wow! The Topaz (or what ever you used to process) really works in this picture. I do think tho that there may a little too much orange and that some blue might add even more zip to the image. Either adding blue sky or even more blue in the doors or both. Then again, as is, the image is very nice. Apr 4th
