I debated on the crop (haha- Still debating...) The top left and bottom right corners are too dark but they seem to provide a frame to the picture. So I dunno... |

I just sent a picture to Richard and it appears to be a little clearer. I lowered some of the settings but also sent it direct as opposed to e-mail. Interesting.

Hi Hildi- Thank you! The little black dots are indeed birds and I think you are right about removing them. Regarding the blurring- this picture (original and enhanced) is sharp as can be in Lightroom, in e-mail I have sent out and in an enlargement I had printed. I was dinged at camera club a few years ago for a distant silhouette tree being a little out of focus (much, much!!! less than what you see here!) so I make sure silhouette trees are sharp! These are! I don't know what happened when I sent it in. I was rather shocked by the blurriness when I saw the pictures here. Am open to suggestions for image sizing in Lightroom export if that would make a difference. (I used what I normally do for camera club which has always been fine!) If you have any ideas about what might have gone wrong when I e-mailed these to Beverly I would really appreciate hearing from you! Thank you again! |

I really like the contrast between old and new in this photo! Nice! Because light attracts the eye first, the buggy and horse were lost at initial glance so I do like the brightening up that Beverly did. I think I would give a little more space behind the buggy and a little less space behind the car for balance.
Also.... I was browsing September submissions and saw your picture of the train. I loved your picture! Wow! The dark of the engine added to the mood but it wasn't so dark to lose detail. My daughter is an engineer for CN in Canada- I just got back from visiting there. My photo club "assignment" for Nov. is a railroad scene. I wish that I would have thought to get a shot more like yours, than the train-coming-around-the-bend one I will have to settle for. |

Thanks Beverly! One question- my pictures look hopelessly soft here, while the ones I submitted are very sharp. The other pictures seem to be very sharp images. Should I be using a different setting to export? Currently I use W: 3648 H: 5472 and 300 pixels per inch. |
