Very nice shot, lots of detail in the man's face and arms. The tattoos draw my eye in and add to tell the man's story. I like the Black and white which I feel helps to express his character and also like the use of the window as a frame. Nice portrait! |

Cute shot of this girl taking a picture, with such an intense facial expression! I like the juxtaposition of this small girl with the monumental stones in the background. Nice shot! |

This is a very nice street portrait of the elderly man and his donkey, and the appearance of the boy in the background adds a humorous dimension! I like the monochromatic browns in the man, donkey and background, which help to frame the boys bright red shirt and draws my eye right to the boy. For me, I try to remind myself in these "decisive moment" instances to focus a little wider so as not to unintentionally cut off feet or hooves! Sometimes easier said than done. Still a great street shot! |

I particularly like the sharpness of the image, emphasizing the grainy sand and the detail in the oncoming waves. The photo has good tonal contrast with good detail in the lady's dark tee shirt. I agree with Isaac's adjustments, especially removing the shoes in the foreground. You've certainly captured her relaxed and enjoying the solitude of the beach. Nice shot! |

I am seeing the tea cup as the focal point and while the people outside are blurred, I'm wondering if an even slower shutter speed might soften some of the distracting elements outside. I like the sharpness and detail of the blue tea cup, offset by the red tablecloth design and pink flowers. I think you could have also included some other clues (ie. a napkin, spoon, steam. . .) that the cup of tea was enjoyed in this pleasant cafe! |

I was immediately struck by the colors and variations in the clothing of the spectators, as well as their expressions and interest in the game. The spectators are sharp with lots of detail. The blurred, neutral background really sets off the group of onlookers and the composition brings my eyes right into the action! Nice pic! |

Thanks, Dan. I am still "on location" (without a laptop), so my "minimal processing" means sending my RAW photos to my iphone photo app which edits a jpeg! As far as exposure settings, I generally just use the Multi-segment metering mode on the camera (sony a6000) which does fine unless there are areas in the photo that are extremely contrasty or bright. It really depends on the scene and fortunately these two didn't have any tonal extremes! I'll still get these into a RAW editor once I get back! And I'll have plenty more that will really need it!! |
