I really like your post-processing, including the temp choices. The composition gives a sense of place. Without including more of the high rock, the image would not provide the story of isolation. The only alternative I can think of is time of day. I know you probably did not have a choice, but an early or later shot might have provided more drama. |

Timing is everything.... Nice capture of the sun's rays. I like you got a bit of detail in the mountains and the sharpness of the birds in the air. For my eye, the texture of the water is a small distraction, but then you would not have captured the birds with a slower shutter speed unless you merged two images. I would be interested in what your raw image would look like if you kept the foreground - with some detail that may have been promising. |

Beautifully composed and well processed. I like the shadow detail in the rocks and the separation of the rocks from the water horizon. I think a long exposure was a good choice to soften the water. Nicely done. |

Yes, I also used a tripod even though this was one of the few times when the wind was not strong. One year the wind was so strong I could not let go of the camera on the tripod. |

I think you definitely accomplished your goal. The pier supports do lead my eye into the image. Great choice on exposure time which smoothed out the water and gave a sense of motion to the clouds. A faster shutter speed would not have as much visual interest. The time of days worked well also. Well planned and seen. Artist's choice - it appears you went with a strong magenta color cast. |

The final version is a really excellent composition - strong foreground interest, leading lines, good separation among each set of rocks, shadow detail and a pleasing warm temperature. My only nit suggestion is to burn down the highlights of the plant in the bottom left of the image. |

Amazing exposure detail for an 8 sec exposure with a ND filter, and it certainly worked to get spot stars. My take is your post processing was excellent as well to bring out the stars and not blow out the pier. I know how frustrating it is to have someone turn on their lights, let alone car lights. The water reflections are great too. Did you consider B/W? |
