Mid-June is probably the best time for color. Wheat is lush green and canola is yellow. The fall is also a good time - late August, early September to get the golden fields with tracks of the combines. Be aware rude photographers have ruined it for some of us. You should not go on any property without permission. If you ask, however, generally the farmers are very cooperative. I stay in Pullman which is the major city in the Palouse. Colfax is in the middle but accommodations are limited |

I think this is a well composed shot - including Mt Hood on the left balanced by the tree and bright point in the sky create a strong, interesting image. The exposure gives the time of day. For my eye, the red reflections on Mt Hood seem a bit overdone so I would consider playing those down a bit. Wonderful image though |

You captured a brilliant rainbow. I like you included the fence and trees which for me provide a sense of place and interest to an otherwise just a rainbow shot. The DOF and sharpness of the image also work well for me. I would consider warming the sky to see what it would look like rather than the strong blue color. |

One more image for the museum... You have had a series of outstanding images from this area. To my eye, the processing is very well done. My eye is drawn to the surfaces of the stacks, and the light adds energy and interest to the image. I get a feeling of dark mystery. I agree with Larry about the rock on the left. I would consider either not cropping in from the right, letting the stack go to the sea and cropping in from the left to eliminate the rock or conversely cropping in even more from the right to give more weight to the rock on the left.

This was a relatively tame adventure compared to your past images. I like the composition which includes the full reflections of the lights and the clouds in the sky, both of which provide visual interest and for me and makes putting the bridge in the middle of the image work. The exposure looks perfect to me, avoiding any major blowout of the lights. My only suggestion is to have tried an aperture of f22 to get more of a star effect from the lights, although you may have made an artistic choice not to do that. |

Thanks for your comments. I have gone back and forth on the wheat on the bottom. I left it in to give a sense of place, but also recognized it was a barrier. |
