It is amazing you captured the stars with that much moon and got the house that sharp with f4. I basically agree with Arne's comments. Without the explanation I could not tell if you included a moon or if there was a night light shining that created the starburst effect. I would have considered an exposure for just the moon and then the rest of the image to blend together. To my eye, the house definitely looks light painted so I would consider Arne's comment about varying the light so perhaps it would appear to be coming from one direction. I like that way you composed the scene including some of the grass in front of the house. |

I think Larry nailed everything about the image I would say - use of complementary color, long exposure, multiple exposures blended, etc. Nice work on the perspective too. Also, welcome to the group. My only other suggestion is, if possible, I would like to see some space to the right of the building on the right to balance the space left of the building on the left. Maybe that was not possible.

I agree with Larry's comments about the tree limbs and tonal value of the sky versus the water. Usually water is one stop darker than the sky so the bright water and dark sky seem incompatible to my eye. At least bringing them closer together would to my eye seem more natural. I like the way you incorporated the walkway, cropped in from the left and left room for the rock on the right. Nicely seen. |

A well composed, very well technically executed image. I think an option I would try would be to crop in from the left so the lighthouse would be on the thirds and would be balanced by the houses and structures on the right; the walkway may be a bit heavy on the left though. I like the color balance choice. The blue reflection on the house does look like you tried to bring up shadows so I would consider trying to make it more white. Finally, my eye is really drawn to the bright blue sky. I would consider toning that down. Your commitment to photography is amazing. |

Thanks for taking time to work on my image. I do use a UV filter anytime near the ocean or in wet weather. I debated about whether or not to put on the rain sleeve. Rubber bands would work better than the draw string so thanks for that suggestion. The cut off poles do bother me too. I have other images which do not cut them off that I like better. I was curious about what others thought on this one. I like the changes you made except the white part of the waves appear gray on my monitor. |
