I think you did a great job in post processing. I do agree the castle could be just a bit brighter, but realize when you work on an image for as long as you did on this one, going from the dark to this exposure, you feel you nailed it. Then someone says it should be lighter.... Been there. I like how you cropped down the sky. If it were my image, I might consider cloning or healing the lumps and ditch in the foreground which is a distraction to my eye. |

I like the cropped version. Nice detail in the glacier (easy to blow out) against the dark blue sky. I agree with Larry's comments about the softness of the foreground and would consider not darkening the detail as much, but do agree with your choice to move attention away from the foreground. To my eyes it looks like the sky was darkened with a brush not quite all the way to the glacier so I see a bit of a halo effect. It could just be my laptop. |

This is a great idea. I do use content aware fill to take out objects but have not used that selection tool. I consciously left the power lines in this image because it gives a sense of place (there are lines all over the Palouse). |

A well seen image. I like the complementary colors and the balance of the composition with the grasses on the left balancing the landscape on the right. The darker area on the bottom keeps my eye in the image. My only question is - it appears the ocean is not level? Maybe it is just the effect of a cloud reflection that makes it look off. |

Always not sure which is better - your story or the image... To me, it is well composed with the balance of the church and reflection and a little more room in the image in front of the church than the back; the exposure (nothing blown out and star bursts from the lights); the sharpness with the slow shutter speed. My only suggestion is the reflection of the light on the left in the water seems brighter than the light itself and attracts my eye so would consider reducing the highlights of the reflection. I am sure the church is proud to display this image. |

Having gone to the Smokies once or twice a year for a number of years now, I think you found a perfect day, perfect conditions (amount of water flow and fog), and a perfect spot from which to take this image. A lot of spots now need some "gardening." For me, the composition is well done with the water heading diagonally out of the image; the shutter speed is appropriate to add an artistic look while providing some texture; good choice of saturation level. Like Larry, as I look at the image it appears there may have been some wind so I agree with his suggestion to focus stack. |
