My first reaction is the same as Larry's. You did a good job bringing out detail in a pretty flat image. I would consider cropping down the sky to reduce the eye's focus on that rather than the land. I like the foreground, middle ground and background aspects of the composition so well seen. If possible, I would also consider trying to bring out a bit of detail in the darkest shadows. A really small nit, but there is a bright spot of a rock on the left side which is a distraction to my eye so I would consider cropping in just a small amount. |

Thanks, Larry. I appreciate your comments. It does look gray in total. The camera was about 8 inches off the ground tho.

Having just been there in November, I think your composition and color enhancement are very effective. To my eye, the image looks a bit soft but maybe that is the rendition effect for the group share. I might consider Arne's recommendation to crop the sky but for me only a smidge (technical term). I would have liked to see a bit more the red rocks on the upper left of the image or crop in to eliminate them; to my eye it feels incomplete, but that is just me. Again, great job on processing this image. |

Great choice to warm up the nearer part of the image and cool down the farther part to add more depth as the eye sees the image. The image looks really sharp throughout. I like that you balanced the two buildings with white lights on both sides of the image with the edge of the image. It may be just me, but the black sky does not look realistic; I would expect some light glow. I would also consider cropping down the sky since it has no interest and the skyline ends in the center of the image. |

Another great story and great image. I think you set a high bar for yourself on the story telling. I really like the color palette you chose for the image and the composition. Placing the moon near a third's power point works well for my eye. I presume downsizing the image for the group resulted in the color banding which is probably not present in the full-sized image. I would consider a slight crop up from the bottom or darkening the bright reflection at the bottom of the image which tends to pull my eye out of the image. This is a wall hanger.... |
