I like the work you did in post processing to bring out the details in the mountains and the color of the sky. Time of day to get side lighting works well too. I might consider cropping down slightly from the sky because the image is split 50/50 sky/landscape; to me the landscape is what the image is about. I would also consider cropping up from the bottom, especially to eliminate the distractions from the white trim on the houses. I agree with Larry about denoising the sky. If you have Topaz DeNoise AI it works amazingly well. You could do a mask to only apply it to the sky. |

All great points. You hit on the reason I submitted this image. My take was there may be conflicting subjects and wondered if others felt the same. I do have other images where the house is a much smaller part of the image. One of the benefits of the Study Group is to see things you don't or reinforce your concerns. I don't submit any images I think are done; just those I want critiqued for improvement. |

Nicely seen by your dog.... The complementary colors, wide DOF, texture and use of foreground all work for me. I like the amount of saturation and the treatment of shadows in the image. I am sure you will say it is level, but to my eye it appears the image is leaning left. |

This is an incredible scene. I like the warm color, the smoothness of the waterfall, the "V" shape of the sun ray and waterfall and the placement of both in the scene. For me, Richards crop is better because it removes the bright white spot at the bottom of the image and the artifacts at the top edge of the cliffs (post processing issue?). It just could be my monitor, but the image appears to have some noise in it. I would have considered an aperture above f2.8 to have more of the image sharp but you may have made an artistic choice to narrow the area of focus. It really is an amazing scene. |

I really like the effect you were after with the long shutter time and exposure and like the color palette and light reflections. The overall image looks soft to my eye - both the pier and the sand. I would consider cropping some of the beach out from the bottom. For me, the line of rocks in the sand are a bit of a distraction from the subject of the image so I would consider cloning those out. The starburst would have been a little better with f18 or higher. |

Good catch, Richard. I upped the yellow luminance and saturation to bring out the canola, but overlooked the house. It was a late evening sun shining on the house which did warm it up considerably. |
