I really like what you did in post processing. Nicely done. I agree with Larry's observation about camera angle. To me this image would be improved if you have angled the camera down to include nearer flowers and diminished the sky. Having larger, in focus flowers in the foreground would give the eye a strong starting place in the image and add interest. Of course I would crop down the sky to remove a portion of the blue without clouds. |

I like the angle you photographed from and the vanishing point effect (nice lens choice). It looks to me the image is technically well captured - sharp, well exposed. The strong shadow line of the bridge adds interest and indicates time of day. The amount of foreground you included works well for me.The strong shadow in the bottom right is a bit of a distraction for me, but not sure what you could have done with that. I would consider just a slight darkening and saturation of the blue in the sky to provide more contrast on the horizon. |

I like the composition of the falls, and the choice of a really long exposure really creates a lot of visual interest. You were fortunate about very little wind which enabled the trees to stay relatively sharp. The crop decision at the top works well too; there is no sky or brightness to draw the eye there. My only suggestions are to take a brush and just slightly lighten the falls and water flow and conversely darken the greens in the trees so the eye is attracted to the cliff and water and not to the bright green tree leaves. New Zealand is on my bucket list, and you just made it more attractive. |

I think you made the right choice of 1/500 sec to capture the wave action. I know you can take a zillion images of waves trying to get just the right one and this one looks good. The exposure looks spot on considering the range of tones you were capturing. The dark rocks at the bottom keep the eye looking at the waves and then the cliffs. Good placement of foreground. To my eye, the foreground looks a bit soft which is probably from the f5.0 aperture so going up to f11 or so might have helped. By now you probably are going to know I am going to suggest cropping down the sky some since it does not have much interest but the cliffs and waves do. |

I like the way you positioned the downed tree in the image and the light rays and that the bright part of the light rays stayed in the image. The light on the tree draws me eye through the image and the spots of light add a lot of visual interest. The back lighting on the trees is interesting too. I think increasing the brightness and saturation of the flowers really enhanced the image. For my eye though, they seem a bit over saturated I would consider darkening the tree limb where it goes out of the image at the right to help keep the eye in the image. This was a beautiful spot |

Great story, and I can appreciate your concern. My story is too long, but needless to say, I now always carry bear spray on shoots like this.
At only 15 seconds, you got an amazing sky without star trails. Your Milky Way processing looks right on to me, but based on the horse nebulae, it appears you may have enlarged this part of the Milky Way? Regardless, well done. I like the way the fence appears to circle around the cabin and that you left an opening in the fence on the right to let the viewer go into the cabin. I might consider darkening the path, grass and fence to the left of the cabin to keep the eye from focusing there. The light emanating from the cabin is exceptionally well done and looks natural. Aesthetically, if possible I also might have tried to have the light on the trees near the cabin look like they are being lite from the cabin rather than a remote light. However, this is an amazing image, reflects a lot of thought and work, and bravery...
