Luck, probably. It certain wasn't skill. I took a lot of shots of flying birds that day, but my "keeper" rate was about 3%. The challenge is even finding the birds in the viewfinder when you are zoomed in to 400 to 600 mm. I just purchased a "red dot" sight (https://www.amazon.com/Olympus-V329200BU000-Dot-Sight-EE-1/dp/B00STR9K1G) in an attempt to improve my accuracy, in preparation for an upcoming trip to Kenya/Tanzania. I'll report on it in a future post. |

Very well composed capture - the trains look so pristine, especially for steam, and so many - I count four. I had to look up Severn Valley Railway online to assure myself that these aren't models. I wouldn't crop at all. I would try to decrease the brightness of the sky in the upper left, and selectively bring up the brightness of the maroon locomotive in the foreground. |

What a curious plant. I like the color contrast of the pink against the green. I find the large bright area at the bottom of the plant distracting - my eye keeps wanting to go there - perhaps decrease brightness there. It also looks like the phone chose to focus on the green and brown background which is probably farther from the phone than the fungus, which doesn't look as sharp. |

Very pretty waterfall. I agree with Glenn's suggestion to crop from both sides and perhaps even from the top a bit. I'd also consider decreasing highlights/increasing contrast in the water - especially at the top of the falls. They look close to blown out on my screen. |

I second Joe's suggestion to brighten up the body. Other than that, no comments. Nice capture. |

I like the silhouette of the ship against the sea and sky. I don't know if I'd lighten up the shadows as others have suggested. Perhaps even make them darker to accentuate the silhouette. I'd consider cropping the photo significantly from the top. From just below the flag on up, nothing much is happening. Cropping this out would emphasize the silhouette of the ship and the dramatic parts of the sky. |
